Data rate error

Post by bonvant »

I changed the settingson the avi export and now I get this message "Data rate exceeds the specified value" and I dont know what to do to get things back to normal... When the 3D text renders after that message is really low grade and I have set things to theor highest setting... sorry but I am new and I just want things back to the way they were at factory settings...

That will depend on what you changed the AVI settings to. There are a number of formats that will be on your computer that call themselves .avi, and each one will be widely different. For what it's worth, I usuall produce an uncompressed .avi for my titles in MS3D.

When you choose Create Video File, a dialogue box appears where you give the new file a name and choose the format. If you choose "Microsoft AVI files (*.avi)", then the factory default setting is the uncompressed one. The properties should be those indicated by the red arrow in this image:
AVI Default.jpg
To get them, you click on the Options button on the dialogue box. A new box with three tabs will appear. On the third (AVI) tab, under Compression, select "None". Data type should be 24 bit RGB. Then on the General tab you select Frame Based, the frame size and the frame rate. I confess I usually alter the frame size to fit my project size (which is usually 1920 x 1080 these days). And the frame rate I usually change to 25 fps as I am in PAL country. But you can leave them at the default settings and see if that suits you.

Be warned, though, that such an uncompressed AVI will be large. I usually find that a 10 second title using the properties I referred to above will usually be 1 GB in size, and if it has some fancy effects it will be even larger.

Thanks so much for your reply Ken... subsequently, after posting my dilemma, I realized through hours of playing around that the output quality that I had selected for avi was too great for the format I was saving... (I need HD broadcast quality) When I changed the save file setting to mp4 or m2ts instead of avi it all worked... also there was an additional problem with me selecting overlay instead of video for what I had created. Thanks again Ken for your quick reply.
