Created MP4's prior to 12/5/11 good, after 12/5 wont play vi

Post by cmarsh »

I use VX4 each week to import(USB CABLE) our church video(sermon), edit, and create MP4's and upload(ftp) them to our server for the website.
I received a complaint that the videos stopped working. The sound was great, but the video wasn't playing.
After researching thru the videos on the site, it appears the last working video was uploaded on 12/5. After that, every weekly video we uploaded plays sound but no video.
The interesting thing is windows media player will play the mp4s fine, quicktime also plays them without any problems, but I have 2 other local players that won't and the player we use on our website(JW PLAYER) won't.
I downloaded the last known good video from 12/5 to compare to the more recent videos and they are the same. So there shouldnt be a problem.

Why would the MP4's suddenly stop displaying the video? PLEASE HELP US... http://www.crossover2life.org/index.php ... &Itemid=67

Here is a screen capture of last known good and recent bad videos...

Hi
and welcome to the forums
The properties of the video files look ok to me, and as you can play then on the PC I would assume the problem to be on your web site.
If you were to upload the files to YouTube and they play ok that at least would eliminate the actual files.
----------------------------------------
However, just clutching at straws here………..
There have been some problems not particularly with Mpeg4, but videos using different audio settings,
Although 24000 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo MPEG AAC Audio: 96 Kbps is a standard setting, Try encoding the Mpeg4 using 44100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo MPEG AAC Audio: 128 Kbps.
-------------------------

Unfortunately I am no expert on web design, do you have a web administrator?

Sorry I cannot be more positive but I do not think it’s the video files that are at fault.

This is so weird. Thanks for your reply. I did upload a test file to You Tube and it plays fine. So its playing in You Tube, Windows Media, and Quicktime. It most definately has to be a player issue. Unfortunately I am the administrator :? We are using joomla with HWDVIDEOSHARE for the sermons. Thanks for your input!

Another thing that you can check is if all the people who viewed the video are having the same problem or it just happen to particular group of people. You may also want to check using your own personal computer and see what the problem it.

- If all the people, then it is a problem on your server/web site.

- If just a group of people, then it can be a problem on their end... could be a codec issue.

Thanks Abiel!

If anyone would like to try your browsers out on it, please feel free. If it happens to play for anyone please let us know here. The link is above in the original post. Thanks everyone!

In the meantime I have posted the same questions over at hwdvideoshare which is the component I use in joomla to see what they say. Its definately either there component or a conflict in joomla, ...I think! :|

Again thanks to all of you for your feedback! I have another question but i will post it in a separate post. Thanks again!
