VS X4 : probleme for reading .mov

Hi all,

I am french and 31 years old, so, I hope you'll excuse my english if I write with faults of language.

My mother is 68 years old and love making movies with corel products, she bought now since a moment "studio video pro x4", great product! She is happy.


But there is a problem now, she just called me with phone for asking me why she got this probleme : videostudio cant read any more some movies .mov in her project


she can read .mov out from studio video with quicktime or vlc she could read .mov movies in her project only since today, she opened her project and an error message said her software cant find/read .mov


She is so glad (good word?), i hope you could help me, and sorry again for my poor english.

Unfortunately, I am having a little trouble understanding the exact nature of your mother's problem. Perhaps it is a problem more of punctuation than of translation. (Peut-être c'est un problème de ponctuation plutôt que de traduction...)

But there was no punctuation, and all those words could be read differently if there *was* punctuation... (Il n'y avait pas de ponctuation, et tous ces mots, avec ponctuation, peuvent avoir des sens different...)

Did you mean:

she can read .mov out from studio video. With quicktime or vlc she could read .mov movies in her project. Only since today, she opened her project and an error message said her software cant find/read .mov

You also said:

To me, this implies that previously (auparavant) she could read .mov files, but now something has happened which has changed this possibility. Usually, when people have trouble playing .mov files, they have updated Quicktime (which is the relevant program and codec for .mov) to the latest version -- usually because they have an Apple iPod which uses iTunes, and iTunes always requires the latest version of Quicktime to work properly. Unfortunately, Video Studio will usually only work for those people if it uses the version of Quicktime which came with Video Studio. For VS X4, that is version 7.5.5.

So do you know if your mother updated Quicktime? If so, if she could reinstall version 7.5.5, that may correct the problem.

Well, thank you for your answer, i will try to write better than my last post, cause i saw faults in my words, yes!

Since yesterday, when she opens her project with the software, she cant play .MOV movies, it looks like quicktime uninstalled but it itsn't!

She never updated quicktime and never modified something on her computer.

She said me, when .MOV movies were working, she could see little pics:

(picture took on google for exemple)



Now, pics disappeared for nothing, it looks liek now the last little pic on this image (took on google for exemple too)
