Win DVD Pro 11: create overlay failure

Post by rgalverson »

I just installed Win DVD Pro 11 and when I try to play a BR disk, a popup tells me create overlay failed and suggests I reduce screen resolution. That is not an acceptable solution although it did work when I tried it. What does this error really mean?

I have Win 7 64 bit and it is all up to date. The video is just GF8200 integrated graphics, but the driver is up to date (8.17.12.8562). Display output is to a 1080p TV via HDMI. Windows media center plays live HD TV from an ATSC tuner without dreaded "video errors", so I think all the HDCP ducks are in a row.

I tried to send an email to Corel, but after filling out a whole screen of information, their web page tells me "case creation failed". Encouraging. :(

I didn't see any recent history of this problem, but I hit it right out of the box--I haven't tweaked anything from the defaults.

Thanks in advance for any help...

Robert
