PSP X4 Installation Error

Post by vintagemauve »

Hello all!

I purchased PSP X4 today, and downloaded the program to install. During installation, I receive an error stating "cannot run the .MSI installer file directly, must run the setup.exe".

I find this perplexing considering I am running the install from the downloaded setup.exe programs.

I did have PSP x on my computer prior, but was uninstalled a while ago. Could this affect it?

Thank you!

No older version of PSP will not affect any new version that you are installing. The error may have been caused by a damaged downloaded installer. To fix this, I suggest that you first create a new user name for Windows 7 with admin rights, login to that user name and then download the installer from the order email that was sent to you. I suggest that you save first the file on your hard drive and once the download it complete, just double click on the installer to start the installation process.

Hi Abiel,

Thank you so much for your response. I tried installing with your suggestion of making a new admin. account, but during that install I received an error message looking for the vcredist.msi file. I searched for it on the computer via the start menu, and found the file. But when trying to link the file to the error screen to continue the installation, it wasn't showing up. What else could I try?

Thank you!
