HD clip playback won't work in VSP X4

Post by Thunderfist »

Hi everybody,

I shot some video's with my HD-camcorder (Samsung HMX-H200) this New Year's Eve, and now I want to put them all together and make a nice video.
My problem is that when I try to preview/edit the 1080p HD video's the preview screen just goes black, and there is no sound either.
But when I put the entire unedited clip into my project it WILL play, but then I cant really edit anything.
I also used another camera that shoots in 720p, and those video's play and can be edited perfectly :|
The version that I am currently using is 14.0.0.342, and it says that there are no new updates.

If anyone could help me it would be much appreciated :D
By the way, I wish you all a happy New Year !

Kind regards,

Thunderfist

Have you installed the disc that would have come with the Samsung? I ask because your Samsung doesn't use the straight AVCHD format but has its own version of h.264 mpeg-4 (which is similar to but not the same as AVCHD). The installation disc which comes with the camera would normally install any necessary codec on your computer.

Thank you for your quick reply :)

The only CD that came with my camera was a .pdf user manual in 50 different languages and the only software that was supplied was IntelliStudio.
I can play the video's any time outside of VSP X4, but they just won't work correctly once I import them into the library.
The only way I can view them in VSP X4 is when I put the video on the timeline, but then I can't make edits properly.
If I hit play in the preview screen, it just goes black but when I manually click "next frame" it will show the video frame by frame....
This isn't a hardware problem I hope ? I do believe that my specifications meet the requirements.

I just did, but it still won't work. I also tried reinstalling and updating VSP X4 but to no avail. Still the same problem :x
I also read something about installing the latest version of Quicktime, and I updated my VLC player just to be sure to get all the latest codecs and stuff.
Still nothing...

Any tips or hints are welcome, and thank you Ken for your quick assistance

Check if you have the latest directx and other codecs aside from Quicktime. Here are some of the codecs that you may want to install/update.
RealPlayer: http://www.real.com/
DivX: http://www.divx.com/en/software/divx-plus/codec-pack
XviD: http://downloads.xvid.org/downloads/xvidcore-1.3.2.zip
Windows Media Player: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... dia-player or just download the Windows Encoder at http://www.microsoft.com/expression/pro ... rview.aspx
Direct X: http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/window ... tx-11.aspx

i just finished installing each and every one of those programs, and I updated my graphics drivers. Still the same problem.....
Maybe I will just uninstall VSP X4 and try another program to see if that WILL work.
