DVD Menu

Post by Pete Waterman »

Hi People
I havent been on here for a while! sorry!!
I am just getting back into this again I have a old version of PhotoImpact ver 7 Update it i hear you say! well it used to do all i needed, & dont see why it still wont.
Old age has set in i think? I just cannot remember how to save my work as a DVD template for use with Videostudio 11 I think i have to save it as a .UFO file?
When i try to do this I select the path for the menus in VS11 I then get the following message when i try to save it,
Image
I click the OK button but when i check with VS11 the menu is nowhere to be found!
Any help for this addled brain will be of great help
Thanks

Well Dave - when you had Version 7 of Photo Impact working perfectly I suspect you also had Windows XP or earlier as your operating system - I see you have now upgraded to Windows 7 and I suspect this is the root cause of your problem, Windows 7 was not even being talked of when V7 of PhotoImpact was released.

I also remember that we had to download and install a plug-in to make menu templates in PI and export them as .ufo files - do you still have that plug-in.

and then the real bad news - PhotoImpact is no more - at the moment there is no way to edit menu templates other than the multitude of changes you can make in VideoStudio

I don't think it was a patch as such but a plug-in - if you have a look at this tutorial here :- http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=11378 you will note that Steve refers to it in the second post down from the top.

In fact Steves link to download it also seems to still work - note however that it was originally for V11 so no guarantees that it will work for you.

DVD MENUS:
----------

The COREL VIDEO STUDIO in MENU-->EDIT-->Offers 3 options:
1.MOVING PATH
2.MENU IN
3.MENU OUT

As it is known the MOVING PATH is working by reading the accompanied .ini file.
In the .ini file, there are some CODES for the movement of each element of menu.
Here is an example:

[Moving Path In Effect]
EffectCount=19
Effect1_OnObject=TITLE_1
Effect1_ID=CCA2A23C-01AF-4A76-89E7-7B3C5F1BB9AC
Effect2_OnObject=SCENE_1

According to the above, there are 2 questions:
----------------------------------------------

QUESTION 1:
-----------
Is there a way to create a dvd menu in PHOTOIMPACT with MOVING PATH?
The answer is PARTLY YES.
What i mean?
After finishing the .ufo menu in PHOTOIMPACT, then you double clik to that menu,
you select the "OBJECT PROPERTIES BOX", then "IMAGE MAP" and in the URL box you write:
"@@/E_PATH:name_of_.ini"
Therefore in CVS you will get a MENU WITH MOVING PATH!
Where i find the .ini file?
I just get/borrow it from a ready CVS menu template.

BUT, how can i create by myself the .ini file?
(Because in the above procedure i just get it from a ready CVS menu template.)
So, is there a way to FULLY create a dvd menu in PHOTOIMPACT with MOVING PATH?
In other words can i create by myself the .ini file?

QUESTION 2:
-----------
In the .ini file, each CODE identifies a movement.
For example:
Effect1_OnObject=TITLE_1
Effect1_ID=CCA2A23C-01AF-4A76-89E7-7B3C5F1BB9AC

The CODE:
CCA2A23C-01AF-4A76-89E7-7B3C5F1BB9AC
Identifies a movement of the "TITLE_1"

Here is the question:
Is there a way to create CODES?(ULEAD MOVING PATH CODE GENERATOR)?
How can i create a moving path CODE from scratch?

Many thanks
GeoVa
