PSP X4 LocalHelp Install Error
A am new to this foum and have just purchased and downloaded PSP X4 version 14.1.0.5., includin SP1 on a Win7 PC. On the Corel site there's a Patches and Updates page with a 119 MB LocalHelp update. When I try to install this, a message comes up saying 'No update of your installed software is required at this time'. I'm not always connected to the internet and would like to access the Help Topics while I'm offline.
Any advise or assistance will be appreciated.

Re: PSP X4 LocalHelp Install Error
Then call up Help/Corel Guide while online and download the Guide/Help section. It is a PDF file so you can have it permanently on call while off-line. That's what I have done from the start.

Re: PSP X4 LocalHelp Install Error
Thanks for your prompt response Ken. I think you're talking about the PSP X4 User Guide pdf file (4.2 MB) and I downloaded this a couple days ago for use offline and it's quite helpful. I would however have preferred the Local Help file (119 MB) installation in addition to the user guide as it should be context sensitive relative to what I need help about in PSP.

Re: PSP X4 LocalHelp Install Error
Like what JStanley mentioned PSP X4 will only open the offline help if your computer is not connected to the internet. In anycase... you can open the HELP from this location.
On my Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) machine its...
C:/Program Files (x86)/Corel/Corel PaintShop Pro X4/Languages/EN/Help/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm
To simplify the location that JStanley posted for Windows XP, that should be.
C:/Program%20Files/Corel/Corel%20PaintShop%20Pro%20X4/Languages/EN/Help/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm
The "%20" represent space, you can use the RUN box to open the help file manually or via the Windows Explorer.

Re: PSP X4 LocalHelp Install Error
Abiel the one you posted for Windows 7 is only for Windows 7 64-bit. On regular 32-bit it'll be "Program Files" not "Program Files (x86)"

Hi. Excuse me, could SOMEONE just PLEASE post, upload or whatever the USER GUIDE's PDF FILE??? (Ken? Jabba? Anyone else?) The system is really buggy, and I've tried A HUNDRED times to download it, but it's IMPOSSIBLE. Every time that I try to download the cursed file, it just "freezes" and gives me an error (I can't even see it "correctly" online!).jabbahutt wrote:I think you're talking about the PSP X4 User Guide pdf file (4.2 MB) and I downloaded this a couple days ago for use offline and it's quite helpful.
I've even tried to download other versions (other languages, I mean) and it's always the same BS: starts to load the pdf, I see the user guide's "cover", and then... "
Sooo... Anyone... P-L-E-A-S-E !!... Post or upload the PDF file to some online storage site (Rapidshare, Megaupload, or whatever). I saw (here and in other threads) some of you were able to do it (download the guide in pdf, I mean), so PLEASE, be kind, and post it ANYWHERE ELSE, so the people that's having problems with the PDF could actually download it easily!
Thanks in advance.
Re: PSP X4 LocalHelp Install Error
Thanks guys - sorted out. I uninstalled the trial version of PSP X4 and installed the file PSPP_X4_PF.exe (337 MB) that was sent sent to me when I purchased the product. Now, when I'm disconnected from the net the local help file comes immediately and works perfectly. When I'm connected, IE opens the web version that includes videos etc.
Thanks for all your help. Great response!

Re: PSP X4 LocalHelp Install Error
Cris have you attempted to Right-click the link and simply download the file itself? What you've described is trying to open it but either as a result of Adobe or your browser the ability to view it in browser crashes something.
Downloading it directly instead of trying to view it might help.

Re: PSP X4 LocalHelp Install Error
LeviFiction, that was the first thing I tried to do...but to no avail. The actual link points to some HTML document...and, actually, you CAN'T even right click the link. Weird.
JStanley... You, Sir... are A MONSTER (in the good way). I don't know HOW (but it would be cool if you tell me
) you manage to get the actual source of the PDF, out of the crappy Corel's page ... but THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. FINALLY, I have some reading material.
I knew someone would be kind enough to help me. Thanks again. You're AWESOME.
P.S: Thanks to jabbahutt, whose thread I borrowed for a while.
