PSP X4 Compatability

Post by MamaWolf »

Hi Folks,
I am new to this forum & am having some issues with X4. First, I can't open files saved in X4 in v9. I couldn't figure out the text tool in X4 & saved the file so I could finish in v9 but v9 says it is not a valid PSP file. This is very frustrating since I need to be able to use v9 until I learn X4. Second, I have 64 bit version of Thumbnail veiw installed but it still doesn't allow me to see all of my PSP files in Windows Thumbnail view. Hope someone can help me with these problems.
Many Thanks,
MamaWolf

When you're in the Save As dialog box in X4, click the Options button. Choose "Save as PSP9 Compatible File".

For me the thumbnails on my 64 bit computer take a while to generate. The more files that are in a folder the longer it will take. The computer won't create them if it doesn't need too, so if you want thumbnails you should open the folder then you should see the thumbnails start to appear one by one. I didn't download anything to get the thumbnails to show. My theory why it takes a while is that the computer will check its 64 bit codecs before trying its 32 bit codecs. This was also the case with Canon RAW files until Microsoft released it's camera codec pack.

If you are using PSP 9 on your Windows 7, you may encounter some problem since PSP 9 is not compatible with Windows 7

PSP 9 works just fine on 64-bit Windows 7, actually works better than X3 and X4 combined. It just disables the Aero interface when you open it.

COREL DOES NOT!
Yes, I use official answer, since I try to avoid being quoted by a caller when they call the Corel Support Line. :)

If I'm not mistaken PSP 9 was released when PSP was still JASC and it was for Win 95/98, which is 6-7 years before Windows 7 was available to the public and yes not "compatible" does not pertain that it will not work, that's why I did not say "If you are using PSP 9 on Windows 7, the program will not work". :)
