Hi One and All..........HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012........VideoStudio Pro X4..........Set Up.... PC Windows Vista Home Premium (SP2) LG blu ray burner...50GB DL Verbatim disc.....Will provide details if necessary. Problem, edit imported video from a Sony HDR HC3 videocam and burn the project to said disc. All OK and this disc will replay on a Panasonic DMR BS 850 blu ray recorder. Quality is "amazing", compliments to Corel as three other programs I tried from from companies XXX failed to get that far. However, try to add another project to this disc; regardless of whether the disc is set to"open" or "closed" and you get the option only to erase existing content first..........Have I missed the obvious, surely you are not expected to "stack" projects and then burn in one go????........on a 50 GB disc!!!. I'm also getting freezes due to unspecified errors for no obvious reasons......Have been in contact with Corel customer help who have been suggesting updates to Windows etc. Have followed these...compliments to help staff they are very quick to answer queries.Have also found that VideoStudio posts errors stating "stopped functioning" when according to Task Manager the program is"OK"....Please see attachment.......and sometimes the dump file is not recorded in the stated "temp" folder..........Enough from me...All the Best for NEW YEAR 2012...Punjetas

I am afraid that is exactly the point you have missed. Video Blu-Ray discs are exactly the same as video DVDs in that regard. You can only burn in one go, even if the disc is a rewritable one. You can burn several projects, as long as they are not more than 25 GB (for a single layer Blu-Ray) or 50 GB if dual layer. But they all have to burned in one go. A video DVD or video Blu-Ray is quite different from a data disc in that regard, and in your own words 'regardless of whether the disc is set to"open" or "closed".'

With regard to your other problems, freezes, etc, have you just been using VSP project files to burn, or are you completing your editing, and then first producing a Blu-Ray compatible file (Share > Create Video File > and then one of the Blu-Ray formats) before moving on to the burning module? I would recommend this workflow as a way of avoiding your problems.

Hi
Freezes, things to try………
Some freeze problems have occurred in the past and associated with Quick Time
Try re-installing QuickTime to an earlier version.
Video Studio X4 provided QT V 7.5.5

Hi Ken and Trevor...Thank you for your very quick response(s). It's a case of "falling on my own sword"!!.I have a "gold medal" in processing photo stills; but am newish to video. I'll have to rethink my processing strategy, because with Cyberlink software and the Panasonic blu ray recorder you can add to existing disc content. In the case of Cyberlink app i've only tried it with a direct import and record to disc with no editing....... Note to Trevor I will try your suggestions...thank you..........Other thoughts unless I've missed the info.......On video import a dropped frame count would be a useful asset?....... and for other users instructions on how to extract and zip an error file with a DMR ending, prior to sending same to customer services. Kind Regards and thanks again John :D :D

Hi

Drop Frame Counter is turned off by default.
Go to (F6) Settings Preferences—Capture Tab

The drop frame counter shows during capture of tape based or analogue video.

As far as I know Ken our HD guru uses a program called HDSplit (I think that’s the name) to capture his footage I’m sure he will comment.

Sorry cannot comment on DMP files or sending to Corel Support, never had to do that. I would have thought that customer support would help there as you say you have been in contact?

Just a minor clarification, the program I use to capture my HDV via firewire is HDVSplit. As the name implies, it splits the incoming video by scene, which I like, and you can also assign your own name to the incoming files.
