Backing Up a complete Paint Shop Pro setup

Post by THXjay »

Having just had to do a restore to get X4 to start up properly, I now see that all of my previous settings have all reverted to defaults.

I know you can save workspaces by copying the file in the "workspace" folder but is there a way to backup ALL settings?
When I say "all" I mean the colour swatches, effects etc, as well as the main program preferences. It's amazing how many little things you can build up in the program without realising, and it would be a shame to keep losing them all each time you re-install or restore.

It would be wonderful to be able to re-install PSP (or upgrade) and have all your drop shadows, colour swatches etc etc, all back at the click of a button....or am I just dreaming :D

The swatches, effect presets, and workspaces are all saved in your "My Documents\Corel Paintshop Pro\14.0\" folder. If you backup those folders you've backed up most of the settings. Then you have the database backup for the Organizer found under the File menu. The rest of the settings are in the registry. You could back those up but then again you might not want to. The number of preferences from there aren't huge so I can't imagine those being too difficult to deal with.

Thanks,

I think the problem is that whenever you do a reset it wipes that folder and starts from fresh. I already have "My Documents" folder in a mirror but it got cleaned out as it was mirrored
