Hi,
I downloaded the trial version of VideoStudio X4 Pro last weekend and am wondering if someone can help me out. I am working with input files whose properties show as Windows Media Video V8, 24 bits, 800x600, 15 frames/sec. I want the output file to match those properties, however I can't find any templates available from the Share->Create Video File tab that match those properties.
When I go to the manage profiles window and try to copy an existing profile to then edit it (such as Neptune_BestQuality), I get a message "the profile could not be saved. Restart the encoder and try again". When I try to create a new profile I get "Access is Denied 0x8007005". This is a single user PC so I am the administrator. Am I missing something easy? Thanks.

Hi Steve
and welcome to the forums.
What you describe does ring bells, I think this has been posted before.
I think the problem was related to File/Folder Permissions which disallowed creating new WMV templates, at least for some users, I remember duplicating the problem, the grey matter is struggling today.
Do a search on the forum, I will do the same when I have time,
Maybe other members may recall the problem????????

Re: 800x600 Output
Thanks Trevor,
Your link was spot on. I created an 800x600 file at 30fps however the output file is only 9mb and kind of fuzzy as opposed to the input file which is 29mb and quite sharp. If you have a quick thought about what might be wrong that would be great, otherwise I will play around with it and see what I can find out. Thanks again.

Re: 800x600 Output
Hi
If you render 15fps to 30 fps the encoder will add frames, in fact duplicate each frame.
So two identical frames will be played instead of one, the video may look a little jerky.
If you are using the video for the internet I would stick with 15fps.
The file size is associated with the data rate( bit rate) The Neptune Best Quality uses 768Kbps
From Video Studio, right click your original clip and select properties, view the data rate?
-------------------------------------
I assume you are using the Make Movie Templates Manager to create your templates.

Re: 800x600 Output
Trevor,
Thanks. Changed fps to 15 and bumped up the rate to around 2300kps (in line with input). The output file looks fine now.
