X3 opening on Icons

Post by Cathy1947 »

I recently purchased this computer. It works great. Want to take it on our RV trips. problem is I installed my Paintshop X3. Went in w/o a hitch. Now if I clickon a desktop icon ,which replaces a stock folder,The X3 will open up.
Also if I open any of my picture folders it will do the same thing.
I do not have this problem on my 32 bit desktop.
One other point. I uninstalled (Complete), reinstalled>> Then uninstalled , and installed the X2
Same results . I have looked at all of the preferance settings, sure there must be one to solve this problem
Thanks in Advance .

I had the computer checked out at a local shop ( very good one) , prior to my buying it. Plus the photoshop 10 works perfectly .

In your X4 Preferences, select File Format Associations, and see if any formats listed there are to opened by X4, and de-select those you don't want opening.

You could also go into Win 7's Control Panel, and select Default Programs and check there too.

You may also want to check the file association.

You can visit http://corel.force.com/index/articles/e ... sociations for the steps on how to change the file association.

I checked the File Associations on both computers . In the Corel section they are the same . On the computers The laptop & desktop have the windows photo as default. Did this in both the control panel and the Corel file> preferences
What I can not figure out is why the two computers with the exact same OS operate differently. Only thing I can figure out is the 64>32 bit difference. The adobe has no problem adapting , corel does not like it. BTW I tried out the X4 , same problem.
I would really like to keep this on my laptop for traveling . If I have to do all my travel editing with the Adobe then the Corel is a waste of time for me. Although not perfect the X3 does have a lot of features that I really like .

Here is my latest apttempt at solving the DVD factory problem.
Using the REVO uninstaller , I uninstalled every bit of corel video software i couldfind on my computer. This uninstaller goes deep.
The Photo section I left alone.
Result no luck . Still pops up if I click on a Facebook notice in my email. At leas the I con problem has stopped. This program is harder to get rid of than a Trojan virus. I am about ready to dump all of the corel programs , and trash the CDs. I was looking at trying out the X4 versions , but that would be adding insult to injury.
I can not figure out what happned to the company. Seem like they really don't care.
