Removing content from a vector shape

Post by Torrianthane »

Hello,

I am tracing a simple raster shape in a new vector layer and I want to know how I can remove a portion of the content from the center. Picture a shape like a letter "o" where there is shape data comprising the perimeter ring, and no shape data in the center. I trace the perimeter of the the shape making a solid eliptical-type shape, but I need to then remove a portion of the center of the shape so that only the ring of the O has vector data. How can I do this?

Thanks.

You need to reverse the contour.

Okay maybe that wasn't the best explanation.

When you create a second contour in the current vector object, you either create it in reverse order of the contour you want to cut a hole into (clockwise and counterclockwise) or select the second contour and in the Object menu select "Reverse contour" (I can't remember if it's in the "Edit" submenu or not but it is there somewhere).

When the two contours are going in opposite directions PSP interprets that as a "cut" in the vector.
