VS X4 Video/Audio Out of Sync
I've edited together some PAL SD video clips, that I copied and pasted from my Sony DCR-SX53ES camcorder, and auto-generated music and when I preview the project through the edit screen everything is okay. I then selected Create Video File and DVD and the output file completed sucessfully, however, when I play back the file both the original audio from the video clips and the added music are out of sync with the video pictures by about 4 seconds.
This did not happen the previous time I used X4 with the same camcorder and on the same PC, so I don't know what has gone wrong or how to correct it.
Any advise please?

Hi
4 seconds seems a long way out.
Can you give more information regarding your editing procedure, as a similar projects have worked ok, what have you changed in your procedure.?
Have you applied Split Audio to your video files?
Provide details of your original video files, right click the video in the timeline and select properties, what are they?
Are you using Pal or NTSC. What country do you live in?
When you Share Create Video File – DVD choose the Options button and deselect Smart Render
Does that improve the out of sync’ audio.?

Re: VS X4 Video/Audio Out of Sync
Thanks for your response.
I'm in the UK and using PAL.
Very simple editing procedure - add clips to timeline, trim some, change volume of some, add titles and add auto-generated music. No change from what I've done previously
I haven't used Split Audio.
Original file properties:
File Format: PAL DVD
Video Type: MPEG-2 Video Upper Field First
Attributes: 24 bits, 720 x 576, 16:9
Frame rate: 25 frames/second
Data rate: Variable bit rate (Max 9100kbps)
Audio type: Dolby Digital Audio
Attributes: 48000Hz
Layer: None
Bit rate: 256kbps
I will try deselecting Smart Render tomorrow when I have a bit more time and see if that has an effect.

Deselecting Smart Render has solved the audio sync issue
Any further ideas on this, although I am happy now that my immediate problem has been resolved
Thank you for your support

Hi
Thanks for the feedback, glad you have managed to cure the render/sync problem.
Smart render generally works ok and is selected by default, we are aware of some problems hence the suggestion.
Unfortunately we have no idea why it happens especially when your files and editing process is bog standard.
Good luck with your editing, enjoy

Re: VS X4 Video/Audio Out of Sync
Hello,
I have the same problem and cannot find the Smart Render option.
I have a movie which is almost 50 minutes and these are the settings (in Dutch):
MPEG bestanden
24 bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Bovenste veld eerst
(DVD-PAL), 16:9
Gegevenssnelheid video: Variabel (Max. 8000 kbps)
Gegevenssnelheid audio: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
I hope someone can help me quickly. I need the movie tomorrow...

When you go 'Share >> Create Video file ' and arrive in the dialogue box where you name the video file - in the bottom right corner are three buttons 'Save', 'Cancel' and 'Options' - click on the 'Options' button to open a dialogue box which contains the Smart Render option.

Re: VS X4 Video/Audio Out of Sync
Thank you BrianCee, I found is but it doesn't solve my problem because I don't want to "Create Video file", but Create Disk.
Does anyone has a solution for the audio sync problem is the case of Creating a Disk (Share, Create Disk, DVD etc.)?

Re: VS X4 Video/Audio Out of Sync
Ah but you DO want to create a video file if you want to solve your problem.
Although VideoStudio does allow you to go straight from the project timeline into Create Disc it has been found over the years that this can *sometimes* cause problems and it seems to be affecting you - go through the process of first creating a video file - then test it if you like by playing it in Windows Media Player (or any other video player you have) - then when you go to the create disc module delete anything which is already in that timeline - then import your new and satisfactory video file (make sure you do have the new one) and burn your DVD using that.

Re: VS X4 Video/Audio Out of Sync
Thankyou BrianCee! That work fine for now, you have no idea how happy I'm with this solution. I have to present this movie tonight
No menu for now (no time), but that's for later!
