I CANNOT COMPLETE DVD BURNING TASK

Post by sagredoe »

I have a project ready to be burned onto DVD; the project's size is 2.9gb (approx. 61 minutes of video). When I click the button to start burning the application goes through the finalisation but then stops during VOB and gives me an error about not having enough disc space to burn the movie???I'm using new DVDs and have tried +RW and -R .... any help will be appreciated. THANKS!

The disk space being referred to is your hard drive. A LOT of disk space is needed for temporary files. You need at least 30GB free to do most things.

HARD DISK SPACE

Thanks for your reply ruggy1 however, I still have approx. 50gb of hard disk space. MF actually shows me how much disk space and hard disk spce I have and they both look good.

burn the dvd folders to your hard drive (don't burn to disc in that final stage). Then, in a separate step, you will be able to burn the DVD FOlders from your hard drive to disc.

Did you install the "Data Add" feature of MovoeFactory? Or do you have any "packet writing" software installed on your computer?

A LOT is corerect, but surely not as much as 30gB? 10gB should be enough for anything practical.

How difficult can this be???

I'm finding this application (MF2) rather frustrating....if an application has an option to burn direct to disc then that's what it should do (no work arounds)...I tried creating the folders but then how do I transfer that to DVD...I'm going to download some patches to see if that improves anything.....ULead, any suggestions?????

Before I bought my first PC in 1998, I read up all about using a PC because I know nothing about it. I started scanning films & slides & CD burning in 2000 & prior to that I read all about it. Before I bought my first DVDRW in late 2003, I read everything about DVD production but until now I am still learning. Ulead only sell the software & not a school but it provides tutorial if people cared to source for it. Honestly I have never use any of the tutorials yet. I have the good opportunity to make use of more than 10 types of video editing programs - all full versions. MF3 & 4 are still the most user-friendly even though there are many bugs. If you have problems with the software, read the manual & tutorial first.
I don't work for Ulead but I was using Ulead programs since my first PC.

Also having this work around problem

Have installed the MF4 DL patch. Attempting a burn on a multiple ‘edited’ DVD. Works O.K. up to 50% “Burning to Disk” then stops. I was able to create an ISO file but MF will not burn even an ISO to DVD. The Burner checks out O.K. and I was able to burn the MF4 ISO to DVD using Roxio 6. There are no error messages and can not shut down the MF4 programs, Appears that ULEAD Data –Add 2.0 is/also locking up the system to the point of having to reboot.

I was having same problem with hang (at about 31%) when rendering. Through Control Panel Add/Remove I uninstalled ULead Data-Add 2.0 and after reboot problem was immediately solved.

ULead Data-Add 2.0 allows drag/drop of files to a CD or DVD from within Windows Explorer.

Hope this helps.

TONYL33,

I have read a lot of stuff not so much about video editing but about making/burning DVDs....I've finally managed to burn one by creting the DVD folder in my HDD (thanks to GeorgeW) and then burning it to disc however that does not explain why an application that has options to burn direct to disc does not allow you to do it :x

You've read a lot about DVD production and I'm happy for you but don't agree with you in regards to Ulead ONLY selling the software...if they sell an application that promises home users (not professional video editors) like me to burn a DVD in a couple of clicks then that's what it should do and if it doesn't then support comes with the package...don't expect users to come up with a work around. I also develop software at work and understand the frustration that users feel when an option doesn't really work...[/b]

If you study in a school, you have a teacher to guide you because you are paying for it but you still have to buy the textbooks & study hard. If you are doing self study or by correspondance, you have to do your own revision but still you have to buy the textbooks. Ulead is selling the'textbooks' but they provide tutorial & the help section in the program is always there provided people look for it. Don't expect Ulead or any software manufacturer to babysit you unless you are using Photoshop. MF4 do have many bugs- more than MF2 & 3 but the contents have increased & should be worth every cent. Work positively & you will see positive results. I used to *** a lot about MF4 at the beginning - see my old threads.

tonyl33,

If you can't contibute to the solution to the problem being discussed in the thread, don't bother.

You are just wasting bandwidth.
