Unable to open file file format mismatch 16803:1:2

Post by pucho »

Circumstance: Using VSPX3, how to combine multiple VSP files in a single movie using "insert media file into timeline" command on File menu?

Each VSP file represents different segments of movie. Each VSP file has items on Overlay track, title track, Music track, as well as transitions.

Each VSP file can be loaded using "Open Project" command under File menu.

Problem: VSPX3 displays error message "Unable to open file" "file format mismatch" [16803:1:2]

What is solution? Any clues appreciated. Thank you.

Are the VSP files that you are trying to insert into the movie created using the same VideoStudio that you have? (VS X3)?

Can you try insert the file to your library via "Insert media file into LIBRARY" > INSERT VIDEO. If you are able to insert the VSP file to the library then you can just drag and drop the files from the library to the time line.

Both VSP files were created with VSPX3.

Adding VSP file into library causes same error message "file format mismatch 16803:1:2."

I found a work around through my own tests and experiments however.

After loading the first VSP file using "File Open" command, subsequent VSP files can be added to timeline using "add video to timeline" command as long as subsequent VSP only have elements in primary video and title tracks only. If there are elements on other tracks, VSPX3 will throw an error message and not add the VSP file.

While I certainly do not say I have answered this issue, but it is a work around as it was the only way I could get each video track data from separate VSP files on to a single timeline.

Hi

I would advise you to render each single VSP to a video file, then add the video files to a new project.

Inserting a VSP inside another is known as “nesting”
Although this process can be performed it has its limitations, also I do not know if Corel documents this procedure.
--------------------------------
You can add one VSP into another VSP (nesting)
Adding more than one may give problems
Adding a nested VSP into another VSP will give problems
Re-editing a VSP that is nested will give problems

You can add a normal VSP to the library, but using a nested VSP may give errors.
Add a normal VSP to the library, then nest that VSP within the timeline will give library errors.

Thank you so much for your support. I downloaded and tested VideoStudio Pro X4 (VSPX4) hoping it would be able to create new sequences from saved sequences. I was disappointed because it could not.

My video editing workflow, is kind of linear. I usally break video project into sections, focusing on each section independently. And the bringing it all together into a "final cut." Using this approach, interview A might become interview c or vice versa. Order and arrangement of sequences is easily changed.

For example:
  • introduction
  • interview A
  • Interview B
  • Interview C
  • award ceremony
  • ending
My approach might seems boring and formulaic, but this is my level.

I like the video folder feature in VSPX4 however.

Thank you so much for your support. Peace and piece
