Paint Shop Photo Project Creator - Again

Post by TeresaR »

Yes, I've read everything everyone has suggested to get this program to work, but it's just not working for me.

I opened the program, and to see how it worked, I made a great little photo album using about 6 photos as a test. It worked great. I LOVED the results. So I couldnt' wait till I had the antique photos scanned in and ready to do the same, and maybe even buy a hard copy of it as gifts for relatives. Only now it won't work.

I can go down into the directories, and I can click on it. And three photos show up. And then it stops. I can now make a wonderful little photo book with the same 3 pictures over and over for like 24 times. I've tried clearing the files suggested, I've tried editing the registry keys, and still, no change. Now I recently removed the "temporary" file made by corel in the directory and instead of loading the same 3 files over again, it loaded a different 3 files. So I tried a different directory and it loaded 5 of the files in there. Here's the screen shot to show the major difference.
What's in Corel:

And what's really in the directory:

Have you tried resetting the PSP Project Creator? If not, you can try these steps.

1. Close Corel PaintShop Photo Project Creator.
2. Launch Window Task Manager; to open Windows Task Manager, right-click an empty space on the taskbar, and then click Task Manager.
3. In the Windows Task Manager, go to Processes tab.
4. In the Processes tab, make sure that the following Processes are not running on your computer:
- MetadataMgr.exe
- MLEMonitor.exe
- RtDevDetector.exe
5. If any of the above are still running on your system, right-click on each Processes and select End Process or End Process Tree.
6. After making sure that the above processes are no longer running, go to taskbar and click on START >> RUN;
7. In the RUN window, type: %appdata%
8. Hit the enter key to open the Application Data folder.
9. Double-click on Corel folder and then double-click on Digital Studio folder.
10. Delete all the files and folders inside this "Digital Studio" folder.
11. Close this folder and re-launch PaintShop Photo Project Creator.

Yes, like I said, I did all the things mentioned here. I have reset the program so many times I can do it without thinking. It doesn't work. It hasn't changed anything. It's not that it doesn't load pictures, its that it only loads some of the photos,

but thanks for replying. :)

I know this isn't an answer to your problem and I hope you'll forgive what may, in the end, be a useless post to you. But having read all of those possible fix posts you also must have come across all of the complaints about Project Creator.

It is partially unique in the fact that it combines a number of options for creating different projects. But the options it actually gives you are small compared to a more pipe-line approach that uses multiple programs. You mention the photo-book. Corel uses different venders depending on where you are and we don't have the list. It's actually best that you go to a specific vendor and download their software for creating a photo-book because you know what you're getting and their software is designed specifically around how they do things.

A simple free editor like Windows movie maker offers more options for videos.

If you want to keep trying to stick with the program that's great. But Corel never really put the amount of development needed to make this a truly decent program it's caused more people frustration than given them happiness with what it promises but fails to deliver for reasons that you're seeing.

Oh I can make a movie/slide presentation with Windows Movie Maker, I do that with other projects. But what I liked about this program was the "actual photo album" looking design it had, giving the viewer the control of when to turn the page, etc. Now if you know of something that does THAT, I'd be much obliged and ready to change programs, but all I keep finding are photo slides.

True that was slightly unique in that it used Microsoft Silverlight in browser. Most similar software is Flash based and either is only the source code or is a pay for software version.

If I had the time I would look into creating something but I don't. And the only thing that comes to mind that is free and potentially easy to use, haven't used it myself, is the FlashPageFlip software. It has a very basic free version and relies of Flash specifically. I have not, as of yet, seen one that works with HTML5 (one version or another) that would be best if you intended say a mobile app to be able to access it.

http://www.flashpageflip.com/

I can't guarantee it would be what you're looking for though. The one in Project Creator was highly stylized.
