I am using Video Studio Pro X4 and have the following problem.
I have tried to make a 3D movie using Anaglyph and Side by Side, it only turns out as a normal video file.
Do I need a different video card or any thing else.
I would appreciate your advise.

Re: 3D No Anaglyph or Side by Side Output
I used X4's 3D capacity when it was first released. I have the Ultimate version, and had the 3D glasses thrown in -- which I think you also get with the Pro version. I have to say I didn't think much of it, though it certainly worked with a variety of video formats, both high and standard definition. But to me it seemed more like a gimmick, and I don't think the blue (?green?) or red layers really blended well together. It always looked just a bit blurry and I could not watch it for long. As I understand it, X4 uses anaglyph.
I haven't used it since then, but just now tested it again with a piece of 1280 x 720p AVCHD which was the first clip I found. I simply put it in the timeline then chose Share > Create Video File > 3D > 1920 x 1080 (since they don't give the 1280 x 720 option). But it processed quite quickly, and on playback -- without wearing the glasses -- the red and blue (?greeen?) layers were quite obviously there.
If you follow a similar workflow, do you not get the two coloured layers? If you use a different workflow, what is it and what format are you using?

Re: 3D No Anaglyph or Side by Side Output
Ken,
Thanks for the prompt reply.
When using Anaglyph it does not come out as two different coloured layers, comes out as a normal video.
If I use side by side, it does not come out as two different frames, comes out as a normal video.
I tried AVCHD 3D 1920 x 1080 and selected Anaglyph, it says "Failed to open the MPEG Encoder".
Tried 3D DVD, DVD Video (16:9) using Anaglyph, it came out as a normal video.
I then selected AVCHD 3D 1920 x 1080 and selected Side by Side, it says "Failed to open the MPEG Encoder".
Tried 3D DVD, DVD Video (16:9) using Side by Side, it came out as a normal video.
Then tried DVD, DVD Video (16:9) without any 3D options, came out as normal video.
Then tried AVCHD 3D 1920 x 1080 without any 3D options, it says "Failed to open the MPEG Encoder".

Re: 3D No Anaglyph or Side by Side Output
Hmmm... I confess I hadn't even realised there was a side by side option, but I just tried it on the same clip, and it too worked. The split frame is there throughout, though the image is a little squished. I am not sure that my 3D glasses can see that type, though...
I also just tried another clip, SD mpeg-2 this time, and rendered it to 3D anaglyph DVD, and again that worked without any problems or messages.
So I am sorry, but I can't at all work out what is wrong with your set-up. Is there anything special or different about the original video you are trying to re-encode to 3D? You haven't mentioned the format you were using.

Re: 3D No Anaglyph or Side by Side Output
You do not need any special video card for this, as long as you meet the system requirements of VS X4 then you are all set. As for the 3D video.. let me just explain the different or point out the difference between the Anaglyph and Side-by-side...kevsim wrote:I am using Video Studio Pro X4 and have the following problem.

I did create a simple post regarding the 3D feature of VS X4 on my blog earlier this year.Anaglyph — Requires only the red and blue generic anaglyph 3D glasses to view 3D video without the need for special display monitors.
Side-by-side — Requires polarized 3D glasses and a compatible polarized display monitor to view 3D video.

Hope that helps... somehow.
