I'm sure a lot of you will take issue in the way I'm doing things but...
I am creating what is essentially a Blu-Ray disc using an otherwise empty VSP. The output is not really Blu-Ray but for a media palyer that can handle BD menus.
The VSP contains a string of other VSP's which are the titles for the end result so it's nothing more than a combiner. Each of the titles has several chapter points defined in it. If I try to create a disc within one of the title VSP's the chapters are carried through to the disc create. But if the VSP is included in another all the chapter points are no longer visible.
If you are wondering why I'm doing this, this is the way Adobe Encore workflow runs. Encore is far more sophisticated for disc navigation and I would use it except that it will not accept that Blu-Ray compliant output from VideoStudio is compliant at all. I beleive it is but I think Adobe's definition of this is that it must come out of aother Adobe product.
I seem to recall that there are issues with chapter points and always have been. I also know I can manually create them in the end combining VSP but it is tedious and difficult to find them whereas it is very clear where they are in the lower level VSP. It's also a problem if I go back to the lower level VSP and make some changes, it throws the chapter points in the combining VSP and they need to be redone.
Does anyone know of any way to get the chapter points to carry through?

Hi
Yes you are correct in thinking that Video Studio has some problems in handling chapter points.
I firmly believe that the Burning Module, the Authoring stage is the place to set the chapter points and not the edit timelines.
Corel have provided a service pack 2 which has addressed some chapter issues, however the problem with using chapter points within the timelines still exists.
I have never used multiple VSP’s within the timelines (nesting) and have always rendered my projects to a single video file, a DVD compliant video file. Whether you render all to a single file or create individual files is your choice.
To burn a disc,,,,,,,
From a new project, nothing in the timeline
Share Create Disc—choosing my option – opens the burner module
Add Video File or Add VSP icons top left---will insert your files to the timeline
For each file a link will be created in the Mani Menu (Title Menu)
Each clip can have chapter points applied, creating the sub menu (Chapter Menu)
But again there are some chapter problems and limitations in creating them.
------------------------------
OK, just a thought……..from your original workflow
When you Share Create Disc-the burner module opens.
Choose Edit Add Chapter points
Choose Auto Add Chapters
Insert Scenes as Chapters
Not sure its gonna work, but you will still have to re-input the chapter names.

Re: Chapter Points and Hierarchical Projects
Thanksf or the reply.
I have SP2 installed but it does not help.
I have simply screen dumped the chaper list from the editor then entered the time codes manually and this seems to work OK.
Actually when you manually type in the codes it moves field automatcailly so it's not to bad to do.
