I had this happen once before, some time ago and I don't recall how it ever got "cured". The Tool Options Palette which normally resides in one of the bars along the top of the screen in the Edit Mode becomes detached. Basically undocked and positions itself somewhere else. Anywhere, really. I can drag and move it around but I cannot reattach it. It appears like a separate tool bar or palette in that it has its own status or title line across the top with the X to close at the right edge.
It responds normally as to all of the tools on it which correspond to the specific tool selected. The palette floats on top of the screen so finding a place to put it where it will not intrude on the image or other pallets or tool bars is a challenge. When the palette becomes detached like this, the line where it had resided above the work area no longer exists.
Anyone have any idea what might cause this to happen? I don't recall conducting any particular task or operation which caused this to happen. I just noticed that it was no longer in its place and was now floating in a spot on the right side of the screen.

Similar thing happened to me and I was advised to double-click inside the slightly darker bit of the toolbar to get it back in place. That worked for me....

That happens to me every so often, I think it happens when I am putting the cursor not quite right in the box when altering settings.
I re-load the saved workspace and everything is back to normal.

Re: Tool Options Palette Becomes Detached
Thanks for the replies. I "fixed" it but not quite satisfactorily since I'm not 100% sure HOW I fixed it. I noted that when I would click the mouse cursor on the errant toolbar that some strange and ghostly looking objects would appear on the screen. They were in the form of navigation buttons such as you might see at the end of a scroll bar for instance. Let up off the mouse button and they're gone. I thought if I could grab one of those, something might happen. But because they only appeared when the mouse button was clicked while the cursor was on the toolbar and the objects were elsewhere on screen there appears to be no way to grab them with the mouse itself. I tried a couple of things such as pressing one of the arrow keys. I tried a couple of other things which I am not sure what those were now and suddenly the toolbar snapped back into its proper place.
So who knows. The suggestion about reloading the Workspace looks like a good one and though I had not saved a Workspace, I think I will now for that purpose. Still don't know what caused the occurance but if simply reloading the Workspace returns it all to normal, that's good insurance.
Thanks all,
