Hi JStanley

To be honest, I have never seen VideoStudio Essentials for sale in any retail store I've been to, in either Canada or the U.S. What features would have been removed, it would be difficult to tell, without actually installing the program and doing a comparison between the two. If you let us know what the source of this version of VS is (the name of the retail store and the device that it is packaged with), then we might be able to do some research into it.
I hope this will give you some direction for getting us the info we need to proceed with getting you a more complete answer to to your question.

I too had never heard of 'Essentials' till now. Having done a Google search, it seems to come from a company called SoftCity, though the box looks like a Corel box. But it does not seem to be listed in the Corel list of products. And as I say, I have never heard of it till now, and I have been on this Board for many years.

If it is legit, then it may be new nomenclature for the old SE versions. And that means some (many?) of the features of the true Pro versikon will be missing. Is there anything else to identify e.g. XC3 which seems to be used in the SoftCity references? Can you find an 'About VS'. and does it give a version number? (Usually, in recent versions, there is a circle of dots with an arrow up in the top right of the VS screen. Clicking that will usually bring up a Corel Guide, and on that there is a cogwheel icon where you will find 'About'...)

We did have a discussion on the Video Essential programme a short while ago - it is here :- http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 5&p=234769& (looks like you missed that Ken ) - if you read the whole topic it does look as though quite a bit of the "content" is missing.

Yeah... Not sure how I missed the end of that thread ... though I was just starting the addition of an ensuite bathroom to my bedroom around that time! That's my excuse, anyway!
