Working With Hair

Post by ikedifej »

How do I select my daughter in this picture, still retaining all the details of her hair. I have tried selecting it but in between her hair is still the background.

Tried using the Magic Wand, and the result is not very encouraging.

Please, this particular area is not covered in the tutorial and I am very sorry disturbing you with this.

I have both the PhotoImpact X3 and Corel PaintShop Pro X4.

Thank you for your anticipated response to resolving this issue.

Regards,

it'll be very difficult to do this automatically because of the lack of contrast between the hair and the background.

If you're goal is to extract the image of your daughter and remove the background, then there are a couple ways to do this than using selection tool.

First, you can use the OBJECT EXTRACTOR, you extract the image of your daughter. You'll find more information here http://pnoy.me/jZ

Second, you can use the background eraser to remove the background, which works similarly to the object extractor. The tutorial here is for PSP X1 but it can still be apply if you are using PSP X4.

Of course the result will be better if you have a high-resolution image for both steps.
