Hello,
I created a image (with blank background) with dimensions 640 x 480 (its my default working image).
I have copied photograph with dimensions 7300 x 4200 and pasted as new layer on the image (640 x 480). Obviously, the pasted photograph is bigger and it couldn't be showed totally. I am adjusting the size of the photograph manually, dragging and dropping its corner lots of time.
I tried to use "image => resize" / "image => canvas size". But it just act on my default image (640 x 480), not the photograph (even when its layer is selected).
So, is there any way of resize the photograph automatically to fit in the default image (640 x 480)?
Thanks!
Adjusting photograph (new layer) to default image size

Re: Adjusting photograph (new layer) to default image size
I can offer four possibilities.
1) In Image->Resize dialog turn on Advanced Settings and turn off "Resize all Layers" this will make sure that only the currently selected layer is resized. However, it's a bit finicky as it resizes based on the original image's size not the layers size so that gets a little confusing.
2) If you know exactly how small you want the image (in percent) you can actually manually enter these settings into the tool options bar for the pick tool. First you resize then you set the X and Y values to 0,0. This will resize the image and them move it to the corner.
3) Finally first Select the whole small image (Ctrl + A ) then copy your photo (Ctrl + C) then Paste Into Selection (Ctrl + Shift + L)
The "Paste Into Selection" option inside the Edit menu will resize the image to fit inside the current selection. Since you've selected the entire image it'll force shrink your photo down to 640x480 so as it fit inside the selection.
4) Just resize the photograph first then copy it into the new base image.

Re: Adjusting photograph (new layer) to default image size
Options 2 and 4 worked better for me.
After resize image (pasted as new layer), is there possible to see the image dimensions? It is because when I select the image pasted and I look for image information (shift + I) the only information available is about base image (640 x 480). I pasted as new layer a couple of images (small than base image size) and I can't see information of any of them.
Thanks
