Handling Vectors (text and objects)

Post by cadudesun »

Hello,

a) I couldn't find a direct way to rotate a vector text or other object (like 90º clockwise). The only way I found out was positioning the mouse pointer (displays two
rotating arrows) and drag the object until desirable position. With "shift" pressed the squared angles are easier to achieve. Any way, how to rotate directly the object (like 90º, 180º clockwise)?

b) I couldn't write a vector text direct on a rectangle, for instance. Always I do this, the text is created on a path. The way I am doing is to write split (text and object) and join after. But is there a way to write direct on an object (without making text path)?

Thanks,
Cadu

1) As far as I know...no. Might be possible if you utilize scripts but never tried it.

2) Hold Alt before clicking to create the text.

You can use the Rotate tool to do this. At least it works in PSP8 and X2 for vector text and objects.
Using Paint Shop Pro versions 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 14, 16

Free rotate works with X4 too.

Thanks for information.
I have tried to use "rotate tool" available at main tool bar (as highlight in attached file).
Is it what you are referring as "rotate tool"? Because this one rotates the vector object but rotate the page as well (for instance from like-landscape to like-portrait). So I couldn't rotate just the vector...

Cassel suggested the Free Rotate command.

Image->Free Rotate.

Uncheck the "All Layers" check box so it will only rotate the current layer. You can then select standard rotation distances (90, 180, etc.) or custom ones. A very handy tool I just didn't know you could restrict it to a single layer. Thank you Cassel that is very very handy.
