I am completely frustrated - could some please, please help me out? I have a Sony TRV138 Hi8 camcorder and am trying to capture video onto my PC using VideoStudio - when I press Capture Video, I receive message Unable to capture video.
Can someone please help me out here?

kitbabe22,
I'm pretty sure your TRV138 is an analog camcorder not digital, so your computer doesn't recognize it's connected. That's the reason you can't capture to your PC. You will need an analog to digital converter. I'm not familiar with external hardware converters but I know others on this board can help you out selecting something to use.
Good luck,

KitBabe,
You need an Analog video capture device.. or an A to D converter as mentioned. A simple solution is to exchange your present graphics card to one that incorporates the ViVo (video in/video out) feature. I know this works because I use the Leadtek Winfast GeForce 5600 ultra ViVo, which isn't the latest but does the job. This also has a useful 256MB lump of RAM on board too, and doesn't cost an arm and leg. The incorporated NVidia WDM Universal capture driver works OK with UVS7, 8 and 9. If you have more expensive tastes, you can go for a dedicated AV/DV all singing and dancing capture card... Sometimes tricky to install because of their greed for PC resources... and you could need a second mortgage to buy one..
