Can't burn DVD Corel videostudio x2

Post by PhilG »

i

I just re-installed my pc and added soft. Corel videostudio x2 (version 12.0.98.0 pro) and cannot burn DVD.

What happens is the following: I use share, create disc, DVD, add my media, fill in my menu, press next, I get preview, but there is no next so that I can't burn!

What must I do, in order to complete my task.

Thanks,

PhilG

I have to guess that you have installed Windows 7 - if this is the case you need Service pack 2 available here :-

http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index. ... id=1300014

this should make VS compatible with Win7 - I would suggest that you first install SP1 if you have not already do so

it would also be extreemly helpful if you could complete your profile with your computer specs so that they appear on the right like mine - it makes trouble shooting easier.

Sorry for my profile, I would like to complete it but cannot find the place to do it.

Next, I dl patches 1 and 2 and in both cases it the program cannot install it because it cannot find VideoStudio. I tried patching from desktop and directly from the corel videostudio folder, it refuses to do it in all cases

What is your current X2 version number (question mark in top right of screen ? About VS)? My fully patched version is 12.0.96.1...

As for your profile, go to the top left of this forum screen and you will see a button labelled User Control Panel. Click it and the UCP will open. Choose the Profile tab and fill it in as far as you can. See photo below. Some details will be found in Device Manager, but the best way to find out more than you ever wanted to know about the architecture of your computer is by using the free BelArc Adviser, which you can google for.

OK so it looks as though there is another problem that needs addressing if you cannot install patches - could be something to do with the way your PC is configured.

There is a workaround you could try - when in the create disc module and you want to move on then hold down the 'alt' key while pressing the 'N' key - this is the standard Windows Keyboard shortcut for Next, this has worked for many people.

to update your profile - as you are reading this look up the the left corner of your screen just underneath the large 'COREL' word - you will see a small icon which looks like a person next to a page and the words "User Control Panel" - click on those words and a dialogue panel will open with tabs along the top - click on the second one - "Profile" - you will then be able to complete your details in the same way that I have

You may also want to perform these steps for Windows 7 Program Compatibility from this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... of-Windows

Then download and install the service pack.

The alt + n works for me, thank you. As for the profile, I'm doing it right now

Thanks,

PhilG

Well, I FINALLY fixed this problem after struggling with it for 14 solid hours, including tons of internet and user board forum comments. PROBLEM: when trying to burn a dvd (via Share/DVD panel), I would get error messages that were either (1) "Invalid video clip at Frame xxxx", (2) "Problem with Convert Step", or (3) "Burn failed". SOLUTION: (In my particular case...) was a video clip in the Timeline that was apparently too short to render (merely 1.10 sec). So when I simply deleted that clip, then saved my VSP file with a new name (just in case), then tried again to burn a dvd, voila, it worked perfectly! MORAL: Check each of your Timeline clips carefully, and DELETE any that look suspicious, e.g., too short in length, whiteout thumbnail, funny characters/images, etc. (note you can't tell a short clip from a long one by just looking at the thumbnails, you must check the specs/properties.) Glad I finally got a chance to Pay-It-Forward after all the Corel help I've received from these forums over the years. Good luck. Hope it works for you too.
Thank you for your assistance. I'm very grateful!

Mike
