Voice level in HD movie

Post by zehavi »

Hello,
At the EDIT step, the voice level of each HD clip is in reasonable level, but during playback of the entire project the voice level droped down. Also after rendering the voice level is still low. On the other side, the voice level of imported music from audio CD doesn't changed.
Is it suppose to be so? I am using the Pro X4 program.
Thanks,
Abraham

Hello Abraham,

can you tell us where did you place the voice audio file and the imported music?? Did you place them on the Voice Track and Music Track respectively?

Hello Abiel,
I am talking about the voice which included in the video clip, so it is part of the video track.

.. so you imported som music tracks beneath the video track, right?

My guess would be to try adjustment on the major sound volumen (raise the left slider beneath "Stereo" eg. 6dB) then lower the audio tracks (imported) via adjusting the tracks volumen (in the "sound edit mode" - you find it as a yellow note sign or simular) by pulling the volumen line down let's say 8 dB (try and error on a better setting). Remember to pull it down in "both ends" of the CD audio volumen ;)

In that way you should be lifting the voice audio from the original video track plus lowering the CD audio volumen.

Let us hear if that was at any help :)

Regards
Chris

Thank you Chris,
I am talking about video track without any inported music tracks beneath it.
Those particular video clips contains recording of people talking in a meeting. The people were in a distance of about 2-5 meters from the camcorder. May be the best way is using an external microphone? As I wrote before, the voice level of each HD clip is in reasonable level, but during playback of the entire project the voice level droped down. Also after rendering the voice level is still low.
By the way, when I import some music tracks beneath the video track, I usually reduce the voice level of the video track.

Abraham

not sure what I'm missing here - why can't you just turn up the volume of the audio in the editing stage - you can adjust up as well as down - before now I have had to turn up to more than 250% to get good volume in the final video - if it is a bit loud during editing just turn your computer speaker volume down a bit - then it will be OK at the final render.

Thank you Brian,
I have turn up the volume of the audio in the editing stage but I tryed not to be above 200% and it really help a little. If it is O.K to be on 250% or more, I will do it.

The limiting factor is distortion of the sound track - as long as the audio does not start to crackle, hum or break up you can turn it to any value that works.
