Handling "Manage workspace" and "Navigation panel"

Post by cadudesun »

Hello,

I am trying to organize my pictures in PSP “manage workspace”. Some questions have appeared and I would appreciate some help (thanks in advance!!!).

“Collections” and “computer” tabs

a) About using folders either through “collections” or “computer” tabs, it seems that only difference is that in “collections” a folder browsed will make available the “find photo” tool and so provide fast photo searches. Is it?

b) Most of my photos are stored in “external HD drive” (E:). I browsed/added a lot of folders. Later when I was using a pen drive together the external HD, they exchanged the driver label. Then, my external HD became (F:). After that, PSP couldn’t find browsed folders anymore. It seems that dealing with external drives through “collections” tab is a little messy. I am considering just to maintain a couple of important folders browsed in “collections” and access the other folders (most of them) through “computer tab”. Is it the best way to handle it?

Tags

c) I had organized my pictures around few core “tags” (e.g. travel, work, family, friends). Then I browsed through “collections” tab some pictures from “fotolia.com”. These pictures have a lot of tags and PSP added them automatically to my initial tag list. After that I have a plenty of tags that I don’t want to use. Besides, tag list is now messy. Is there any way to configure PSP to don’t do this (I want to use just my tag list and I would like to prevent new messy when browsing new folders/pictures)?

d) And worse: Now I can’t delete undesirable tags direct from “collections” tab because every time I try PSP bring them again. The only way I found it is to delete tags from each picture (one by one). Is there other intelligent way to solve this problem?

An initial opinion: It seems PSP navigation is simple and doesn’t offer quite intelligent solutions to handle pictures.

Best,
Cadu
