DVD Menu Templates - Some clarity please

Post by pulper80 »

I've been searching around for about an hour and I still cannot seem to find the answer to my question. I am sure it is here somewhere as this board has a wealth of good information. I am wondering where I can download additional DVD Menu Templates, and how I go about using them. Currently there are only 3 "SmartScene" templates that appear when I go to burn a DVD with VideoStudio Pro X4, so all of the DVD's I burn are looking very similar. I understand that you can modify the existing templates, but it would be nice to have about 20 or so templates where all I need to do is to change the text and click "burn". Ron P. has a very good tutorial on how to modify existing templates, but this (albeit useful) is not what I am searching for here...

This thread here tells you how to move your DVD Menu templates from older versions of Video Studio Pro to X4, but, again, it does not say where to download some pre-made templates.
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... e+#p234205

Also, BrianCee has some instant project templates posted as a sticky posted here:
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=41386
But these are not DVD Menu Templates.

If you have to purchase the DVD Menu Templates as an additional software package, that's fine, I just want to know and then I will buy it. But at this point I don't even know if that is the case, so I am stuck right now. To be perfectly clear, what I want to accomplish is this:
1.) Put in blank DVD into drive and open video studio pro
2.) Drag a clip to the timeline and then click "share"
3.) After choosing "Make a DVD" option, I want to have 20 or 30 additional DVD menu templates to easily click, rename the text real quick, and then burn the DVD.

Can someone please point me to the appropriate thread, or even just a few keywords to enter into the search function? I must be missing something here as I have searched for a long time with many relevant keywords, but I'm still stuck! Thank you.

I have just checked my menu options and I have 22 'Smartscene' templates - 16 'Text menus' - 33 'Thumbnail menus' plus a number of others in my 'favorites' which I have imported from previous versions or made by modifying the supplied templates.

So - it sounds to me as though you have not installed the 'Content' or 'Bonus' packs or downloaded the extra free menu templates from the "Do More" tab in the Corel Guide within VideoStudio.

how did you install your programme - was it from a download - if yes then you should have received an e-mail giving links to the Contents and Bonus downloads - download and install these - if you installed from disc then insert the disk again and install the additional packs - either of these should increase your options.

The Corel Guide is accessed from within VideoStudio by clicking on the orange button with white dots and a little arrow in the top right corner of VideoStudio

I just checked and I also have many templates. I have another question: I just downloaded the free "menu pack" but I am not sure if it installed correctly. Is there someplace that describes what these are and how many there are. Do I have to do something else besides just install them for them to appear. I assume these will appear when I am the above mentioned share area to create a dvd.
Thanks.

If you have just downloaded and installed them they will not appear while VideoStudio is open - you need to close VS and wait a couple of seconds then restart VS - the new menus should then appear in the gallery when you go to the Create disc step.

Thanks, I see 22 under the smart scene menus. I don't remember how many were there before. Does that seem right?

ABIEL - - - could you expand on your link to photovideolife please - because I and several other members have visited that site and none of us have ever found DVD menu templates there - I can find project templates but where exactly on that site are the MENU templates - could you perhaps link direct to some MENU templates for us.

Apparently I had a corrupt install. The updates/get more downloads were not taking. Thank you Brian Cee, I was able to successfully download new DVD MENU templates in the get more tab - AFTER doing the following: (It was a real ##### but hopefully this helps someone):

1.) Reinstall Video Studio Pro X3 through the disc (entering serial code)
reboot
2.) Reinstall Video Studio Pro X4 through the upgrade file (entering serial code)
reboot
3.) Install Video Studio Pro X4 Service Pack 1
reboot
4.) Install Video Studio Pro X4 Service Pack 2
reboot
COMPLETE

Now a whole bunch of DVD MENU templates appear when I go to burn a DVD... SUCCESS!!!

To user: Abiel Corel
What you are referring to are Instant Project Templates. That is not what this thread is about (thus the subject line). This confusion about templates has gone on long enough! I am here to put a stop to it! :D
Here we go!:

DO NOT CONFUSE THESE TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF TEMPLATES:
1.) INSTANT PROJECT TEMPLATES
2.) DVD MENU TEMPLATES

THESE ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.

Let's say it one more time so we all have it in our heads:

DO NOT CONFUSE THESE TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF TEMPLATES:
1.) INSTANT PROJECT TEMPLATES
2.) DVD MENU TEMPLATES

THESE ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.

Brian Cee was even nice enough to capitalize MENU multiple times in his last response :)
I would attach some xmas music so it would stick better in people's heads, but I don't think this board supports mp3s.

Moving forward, please share any new DVD MENU templates and I will do likewise. There seems to be a shortage of these in the cloud.

Hi Brian

DVD Menu templates can be downloaded from the PhotoVideoLife site.
They do add quite a lot of extra content to the menu gallery (probably double)

Well - I downloaded files from both the links you posted Trevor and they are both identical - they are also identical to the MENU templates I had already downloaded from the 'Get more' link within VideoStudio - so I still don't see any NEW menu templates on the Photovideolife website.

Hi Brian

Maybe I am missing something here.
I downloaded the DoMore_extra DVD Menu_01.exe file (134 Mb) from the PhotoVideoLife site some time ago.
I was informed by them via the blog that the link had been made it available on the Do More via Video Studio X4
I do see a link to Photo Video Life (Find out More) but takes me to their site for Instant Project Templates. Now I have to search the site for the DoMore_extra DVD Menu_01.exe.

I do not see a direct link to this file.

They don’t make it easy……….

Installing the file does substantially increase the available DVD Menu Templates
