Hello,
Attached there is a picture made through PhotoScape where big outline rectangle is rounded. I am trying to do similar one through PSP. Drawing I found some difficulties:
a) How to create a rounded rectangle? I tried to use “rectangle tool” but I couldn’t find adjust to make it “rounded”.
b) Considering the possibility to create a “rounded rectangle” and applying “shadow drop” on it, will the shadow appear “rounded” as well? Or is there something to do?
c) In some tests I made applying “shadow drop” on a normal rectangle (as a new layer) the only adjust I could make after that was on “shadow size” (dragging the mouse). I couldn’t find a way to access effect properties to readjust attributes as “opacity” or “blur”. How to come back to “shadow drop” configuration panel (attached) to readjust settings as opacity or blur?
Thanks in advance,
Cadu

The drop shadow effect uses the shape of the layer to make the drop shadow so it will be rounded as well.
The Rectangle tool has two ways to make rounded corners.
1) You can change the "Horizontal Radius" and "Vertical Radius" values on the tool options bar after you've drawn your rectangle. Though you have to be in the tool's edit mode.
2) In edit mode you can select a corner node and drag it to create the rounded corners.
I did a tutorial on the Rectangle tool

Hope that helps

Re: How to do a rounded rectangle with rounded shadow drop e
another option would be to do like before with your circular crop.
ie to use the rounded rectangle selection tool, invert the selection, delete....
but you don't have much control with the rounded rectangle selection tool

Re: How to do a rounded rectangle with rounded shadow drop e
Thanks everybody for information.
Ps.: Great tutorial (as the other ones!)
I would ask for additional help to:
As in attached file (PSPIMAGE available at http://www.4shared.com/file/jN7ZLYxA/Re ... der_1.html) I created a rounded rectangle with drop shadow effect. Also, I crop the center to make a kind of "picture frame".
a) I had to repeat two times "crop the center" in "rounded rectangle" and in "drop shadow" once each one has its own layer. Is there any way to crop all forms/layers together (I tried to create a layer group but it didn't work)?
b) Is there any way to transform this image in a real "picture frame", available at image->picture frame?
Best,
Cadu

1) Yes and no.
You cannot delete a section using a selection from all layers at the same time.
You can, however, mask out those layers.
Create a selection of the area you wish to mask out. Go to your layers menu and select "New Mask Layer -> Hide Selection" this will create a mask hiding anything that was beneath your selected area. Now move all of your layers into the created group.
This fakes deleting areas of your image and allows you to edit the mask later should you desire to do so.
2) Yes custom frames are possible inside of PSP.
There is a directory in your My Documents folder called "Corel Paint Shop Pro" inside that is another folder called "14.0" and inside that is a folder called "Picture Frames."
Make sure to save your image as a PSPFrame. (This is a PSPImage file with the extension *.pspframe instead of *.pspimage)
If you want it to keep the transparency you'll need to make sure to save the selection as an alpha channel so go to the Selections menu and select
"Selections->Load/Save Selections->Save Selection to Alpha Channel"

2) custom frames
I saved picture as PSPFrame and pasted it at "C:\Documents\Corel PaintShop Pro\14.0\Picture Frames".
After that through PSP menu (image->picture frame) I could see the rectangle with the same file name (Rectangle border_frame...).
PROBLEM: When I selected/applied the new picture frame PSP frozen/stopped immediately. I tested both with and without to save the selection as an alpha channel.
What to do?
About to save the selection as an alpha channel I just open the PSPFrame file and applied selection. Is there additional setting to do (like save alpha to each layer an so on)?
Ps.: PSPFrame files I am using are available at: http://www.4shared.com/file/663VzQwx/Re ... order.html
- Rectangle border_frame_1.PSPFrame
- Rectangle border_frame_2 (with alpha saved).PSPFrame
Thanks
