I am using a Multi format Bluray burner (BLU-RAY BURNER LG | WH10LS30) to burn a standard 4.7GB single layer DVD. Most of our extended family members do not yet have bluray players so I am attempting to burn to the standard DVD format. I have rendered my DVD folders using Video Studio Pro X4. I have written the files to the hard drive. Found the video_TS folder in the Corel directory. The DVD Menu works, navigates, and plays exactly as expected on my computer. I have copied the video_TS folder on to a -R blank DVD and burned the DVD. This was done by dragging the video_TS folder onto the burner and burning the DVD.
The DVD plays on the computer as expected. My Sony DVP-700-NS700P progressive scan DVD player says disk is dirty. The Sony PS3 gets to the menu, plays the menu music, and if shows the preview video playing in the thumbnail, but menu will not navigate and video will not play.
Does anyone have any ideas why this DVD is not playable on standalone players? I prefer to create hard disk folders so I can play DVD's from my Patriot Box Office media player or burn multiples of our Family videos onto DVDS. I was previously using Nero 6 ultimate before building my windows 7 based computer. So far Video Studio X4 has met my expectations until I ran into this issue.

Re: Non Playable DVD on PS3 or Other DVD Players
I did not think you could simply drag and burn a Video_TS folder to a blank DVD ... though apparently you can do so with a Blu-Ray folder to a Blu-Ray blank, and an AVCHD "hybrid" folder to a DVD.
I too always prepare Video_TS folders of my DVDs, but I use either Nero or Ashampoo Burning Studio to actual burn those folders to disc as both have a module for burning folders. I think that those programs add some code to the start of the DVD which tells a burner to look for a DVD structure on the disc -- at least that is what Nero says when it starts to burn such a folder.
But I may be wrong after all these years, since your player can at least see the menu.
Nevertheless, I would still suggest you try Nero if you have a version which works with Windows 7. Or else ImgBurn is supposed to be a good free alternative, though I have never tried it.

Re: Non Playable DVD on PS3 or Other DVD Players
Thanks Ken. You were right on. Just as an added note, Pro X 4 worked perfectly in burning a table top functional DVD. It also seems that once it has rendered the video, subsequent videos burn quickly. Nero 11, using the DVD video compilation burns the fastest for multiple copies after dragging the video_TS folder into the template. At 16X, I was burning almost as fast as my Epson R260 printer could print the art onto them. I guess I must have forgotten that under Windows XP, when I was using Nero Ultra 6, I was always doing my burns with Nero. So far so good with Video Studio Producer Pro X4. If I go back to burn any of my archived work, I will use Nero 11.
