File closes when opening new file X4

Post by knelis »

Hello,
Hope you can understand my english :)

I noticed, that in X4 my file ( in which I'm working) is lost, if I open a new file from the organizer.
In older versions, I could have a lot of pictures on my screen and switch between them.
Is this a "bug" in X4, or is there a way to put this feature back like X2.
Hope the question is clear??
Thanks for helping.

Which page are you on? Since you say you are working on a photo, I assume you are in Edit. If so, then it certainly should be able to open more photos than just one. Here is a view of two images I have opened via tabs in my Edit workspace.

In the organizer, i choose a picture-file and go to edit.
I can see the picture and can work with it.
If I go back to the organizer and open a new picture, the "old"- one is gone and the new one is shown.
How can I keep the old one.
In the older version of PSP I could open a lot of files from the browser.

I don't use Organizer in the Edit window, but open my files the "old" was via File > Open or Recent Files.

You don't need to "go back" to the organizer. Manage mode is just an area for visually organizing images.

The Organizer Palette is available inside all three modes. So you don't have to go to Manage mode to view the Organizer.

X4 now closes the images when you switch modes, it's just how it works. The only way to keep the image open is to never leave Edit mode.

I used in the older version the browser.
There I had a visual of the file I want to edit.
If I wanted to open another picture I went to the browser again and opened a new picture.
In that way I could combine some parts of different pictures to one picture.
I thought, that the organizer took the place of the browser.... but it does not work the same.

Using the dialog "open".. I don't have a visual of the files; only the names.
This is actualy the reason, I don't us X4; I still use X2

Just wondering if you are using the organizer in Edit mode like this now?

That's the way it works now indeed.
I don't know if it was the update, that fixed the problem??
I've tried to get this workspace for a long time, but suddenly it shows good now :)
