KPT lens Flare - came free PSP X3 (and X3 Ultimate) and now X4 as well
It's the only one I've ever found that worked well so I never kept track of the two others I found. Sorry.

You could also try using the lens flare portion the Sunburst effect. Go to Effects > Illumination Effects > Sunburst... . On the Sunburst dialog, set the brightness of the Light Spot and Rays both to zero. Set the brightness of the Circles to your desired value, and click OK. If a value of 100 is not bright enough, try setting it to a value between 50 and 100 and applying it twice (use Ctrl-Y).
The result will be a lens flare effect, and no plugin is needed.

Re: Lens Flare Plugin (free)?
i've used the sunburst quite extensively in the past. and i'd like to try something with a bit more colour. basically when i've done graphic and finished the foreground occasionally i think the background needs something else. lens flare is an obvious an lazy solution. but if you look at the colours in the image below i think you'd struggle to do that with sunburst

LeviFiction,
you said "KPT lens Flare - came free PSP X3 (and X3 Ultimate) and now X4 as well" - I've tried PSP X3 Ultimate (after been using X2 for a quite long time) and also X4. I didn't find the lens flare in none of the effects, nor menus nor help browser.
Could you please pin-point where to find it? Thanks.

Re: Lens Flare Plugin (free)?
The KPT plugins are the registration incentive. When you registered the software it should have given you a link to download the KPT plugins installer inside of the "thank you for registering" email. Once you've installed it you would find it in the Plugins section of the Effects menu.
If you were not given a link inside of an email, or if you deleted the email, you have to contact Corel Customer Service.

Re: Lens Flare Plugin (free)?
Thanks for your quick answer LeviFiction ... I only registered the test verion(s), so that's the reason the confirmation email didn't have this link you mentioned. I'm still hesitating to buy X4 because besides the new features things get worse for me concerning to handle the GUI.
For me it doesn't make sense to upgrade my very older version that I'm familiar with in the moment. Sorry.
