Ultimate or not

Post by Lighthorse »

I downloaded the Ultimate trial version of Paintshop Pro
( http://www.corel.com/corel/product/inde ... id=5900044 )
and found no differences between them.
Actually they seem to start the same , I expected a different start picture or at least it saying it was the Ultimate version.
I never found the Nik filters or anything else different.
So my question is why pay the extra when I tried both trials and they were the same ??

Believe it or not the advertising portion of Corel feels that they properly explained the differences on the website.

I find this interesting as we keep getting reports from people who want to know what the difference is.

1) I think there has been an "Ultimate" version only for the past three versions of PSP and only in X2 was it actually something different.

2) With X4 they did not want to tout it as a new version they wanted it to be PSP Ultimate Package or Bundle. In X3 and now in X4 they were the same program all that was "Ultimate" about it was the included extras. Because X3 Ultimate was released at a later date than the actual program they did change the splash screen and included service packs in the download but that's where the differences end.

The only thing that makes X4 "ultimate" is the extras that you only get when you buy

Nik® Color Efex Pro™ 3.0 filters
Custom photo book* from Blurb®
Free Picture Tubes™

Nik Color Efex Pro 3.0 is worth the extra money. The others are...okay but I never use them. If you consider the normal price for Nik Color Efex 3 you're getting a good deal.

If you don't want the extras then there is no need to spend more money but if you want the Nik Color Efex it is very much worth the extra money.

But there is no difference with the program itself because Ultimate is not a version but a bundle deal.

OK
That is why I downloaded the trial of Ultimate, to see if I would want to pay extra
for the EXTRAS, kind of strange that the ultimate trial does not show them .
it seamed to me ( if I had not asked here ) that they were hiding something.
and did not want me to see the difference, (and yes I did read the differences)
but I wanted to see them in action before I pay for them.

For me, it was worth it just for the Nik Color Efex Plugins. But for some reason the Blurb codes that they have sent me do not work! I don't use picture tubes, so can't comment on those.

I agree, but some may not find them as useful as others. For me, a photographer, I think they are worth the cost of the difference between the regular version and the ultimate.
