installation errors: read from source installation database

I have just purchased PaintShopPro X4 Ultimate on disk and have repeatedly a version of an installation error:

Error 1901.Error attempting to read from the source installation database: C:\windows\installer\1021ae5.msi

I've done an install of the download version and then uninstalled and repeated the disk installation: this gave the same error except a different *.msi file...

This is a Windows 7 home professional X64 system and I tried it on both my own logon (nominally an 'adminstrator') and on the 'superadministrator' mode with the same problem.


Can anyone enlighten me as to the source of this error?

Here's a steps that you can take...rather than using your own logon (nominally an 'adminstrator') or the 'superadministrator' mode, I suggest that you create a new user name with admin rights, via CONTROL PANEL > USER ACCOUNT then login to that new account and install the program from here.
