upgrading
I have been using Paint Shop Pro since I first purchased version 3 when it was by Jasc. Since Corel took over there are a lot of upgrades but the upgrade price is high. I've bought almost every upgrade and that adds up! Just looked and wondering if X4 is worth it. I have X3 and had X2 Before that and also up to 9 before. It seems that right now a NEW purchase is $60 and an upgrade price is $50 - I think that is not much of a break for someone that has bought it over and over! I WOULD like to have faster performance because I've found the X verions to be very slow and easy to crash but I think I should get a better break in price than $10! And I'm not even sure it's going to be that big an improvement. I also use 64 bit windows 7 now and seems it's not taking full advantage of that!

Re: upgrading
The "regular price" for X4 is $79.99, it's currently discounted to $59.99. The regular price for X4 upgrade (the exact same program with a better price tag) is $59.99, discounted to $49.99. It's not as much of a discount as the full version, but it's still cheaper. If you were going to buy it cheap you should have bought it the last week of November when it was just $29.99 and the Ultimate version was the same price. If you keep looking you may find a deal on it, but Corel will likely go back to the "regular" price eventually.
Whether or not it's worth it is up to you. If your current version is stable and you can do everything you need to then I'd probably say no. If your current version is lacking somehow you could ask here if it's fixed in X4. Some things are, some aren't, some are fixed in the service packs for your current version.

Re: upgrading
Befrore buying the program, I would recommend that you download and use the trial version. So that you'll have an idea how the program works. You can directly download the trial here.
