Has it ever worked ? - if it did when did it stop ? - where did you get the programme from ? how did you install it - did you get any error messages ? - have you recently changed anything on your computer ? etc. etc.
Your question is a bit like telephoning a garage and saying to the mechanic - my car wont start please fix it - MORE INFORMATION please.

Re: VSX4 wont start
Just like what BrianCee mention there are many reasons why this happens. So we need more information. Just incase this is a problem with a bad installation, I suggest that you perform a clean reinstallation of the program.
You can remove VS X4 by following these steps http://corel.force.com/index/articles/e ... dio-Pro-X4
Once removed, you can reinstall by redownloading or inserting the installation disc back.

Re: VSX4 wont start
My first post so I'm unsure if I should have started a new thread or not but here goes anyway.
I have CVSx4 SP2. It will not launch no matter if I use the shortcuts or go right to the VS.exe file. I had upgraded (box)from x2 about a month before. X4 did work up until about 3 weeks ago then nothing.
I have 32 bit Windows XP SP3; 11G of unused space on my HD; 1.4g ram. I have watched my Task Manager when I click the desktop icon or the .EXE file and in the processes window vstudio.exe pops in there for a few seconds but then disappears and there are no error messages or any other kind that appear.
Coincidence or not, at around the same time my CWPx3 also stopped working giving me the message that files were corrupted. I've since corrected that by using the Add/Remove/Repair software in Control Panel.
Corel Support advised me to copy the Video Studio X4 folder from the Disc to the desktop and open it and go to the setup file and reinstall it (rough compilation by me). However, when I noted my problem to them I left out the part of it working before and the WP errors that happened around the same time X4 stopped launching. Whether the further info makes a difference in the solution I don't know but thought I should add it here.

VSX2 won't start either!
I tried to use my copy of VideoStudio X2 today (28/1/11) and encountered this same problem. The last time I used VSX2 a couple of months ago it worked fine.
On clicking the shortcut to launch the program the egg timer appears for a second or two accompanied by some hard drive activity then nothing, no error message or indication that the program has started. There is no sign of vstudio.exe or its startup application, uvPL.exe in the task list. uvPL.exe is in the list of Windows XP startup applications but is not running (I believe it should be).
After numerous attempts at re-installation, including removing all trace of VSX2 from Windows registry I am at my wits' end. I have also uninstalled such things as Flash Player and Visual C++ Redistributable before doing a fresh VSX2 install in case one of them was responsible.
I suspect that uvPL.exe may be the cause of this issue. Does anyone know what it does and how? Is it used by VSX4?
Another possibility may be a .dll file which has got updated to a newer, incompatible version. That could explain why a fresh install has no effect.

Re: VSX4 wont start
I went through the egg timer hard drive buzz then squat thing with VideoStudio X4 recently. No error messages no anything. I contacted Corel and below are the instructions they gave me which worked. As noted this worked for me for X4. Also, if you do go this route and it works, you have the option to leave the folder on your desktop if it isn't a problem.
Hope this helps.

"If you are having difficulties installing VideoStudio Pro X4 from the disc, you may be able to get it installed from the hard disk. Please follow the instructions below to install VideoStudio Pro X4 from the hard drive instead of the disc.
1.) Place the VideoStudio Pro X4 disc into the optical drive. If you see the auto-run screen click the Exit button.
2.) Right click the My Computer icon and choose Explore
3.) The Windows Explorer window is divided into two sections. On the left-hand side click your DVD drive icon
4.) Once you highlight the DVD icon you should see folders on the right-hand side of the window.
5.) Right click the VideoStudio Pro X4 folder and choose Copy.
6.) Close the Explorer window.
7.) Right click on the Desktop and choose Paste.
8.) Once the VideoStudio Pro X4 folder is pasted to the Desktop, double click it to open it.
9.) Inside the folder locate the Setup file and double click it to start the install of VideoStudio Pro X4"
Hope this helps.
