Program creates folder
I went into settings/file locations and removed all the references to C:\Users\Dizzie\Documents\Corel PaintShop Pro\14.0. Then I deleted the folder. But every time I open PSP it creates the folder again. Is there any way to stop it from creating the folder? I don't want separate folders for each version of the program. I want all versions pointing to the one folder; C:\Users\Dizzie\Documents\My PSP Files.

Re: Program creates folder
This is where X4 places, among other things, the last used settings for certain tools. Why do you want to delete it? If you're trying to keep your scripts and other variables in the same place (usable by all versions) then you can go into the preferences of each program and point the File Locations to a general folder. Or am I missing the point?

Re: Program creates folder
Because PSP already has a folder called "My PSP Files". Then I install v. 9 and it makes a folder called "My PSP 9 Files",then I install v. 8 and it makes a folder called "My PSP8 Files", then I install v. X4 and I get yet another folder. I only want 1 folder.
I don't need a different folder for each version. So which folder would you suggest I point all the versions to? And if I delete the other folders, how to I stop the programs from creating them again?

Re: Program creates folder
If you click File> Preferences> File Locations you'll get a window that will let you add and delete locations for different files. There's more than a few things that need a folder as you can see. You can add, delete, and in a few cases just point to a single folder. I don't know if deleting the default folder locations will keep the program from making more but you could try it. I'm not going to mess with it to test. I don't see any way of keeping the program from creating these folders when installing if that's what you're doing.

Re: Program creates folder
Sorry, missed that. Well I guess you have your answer then. You in fact do need those folders and they do need to be separated by version. Presets from version 9 likely wouldn't work with X4. Scripts recorded in X4 would give an error if you tried to run it in 9. I'm sure there are things that can work on each other, but there's probably others that need to work the way they are.

Re: Program creates folder
Also, upon uninstalling PSPX4 you have the option to remove preferences and folders. This would delete the My PSP Files option if you weren't careful which some people aren't. PSPX4 was designed to play nice with other versions. And the folder creation is hard-coded so I'm sorry but it's there to stay.

On PSP, you can assign a new file locations but you cannot delete the default file location folders.
