install vs x4 won't start

Post by turnernp »

when I run setup.exe for x4 all I get is what looks like an error window that is blank for an instant then nothing but the desktop . I am running on W7 Home Premium as admin. X3 is installed and operational also VS 12.
Drivers and Windows have latest updates. I always try the install after computer restart. Any suggestions?

You may want to create a new admin user name via CONTROL PANEL > USER ACCOUNTS. Then login to that new user name and install the program from there. since its an admin account, the program will also be available when you login back to your user name.

Thanks for note! Tried that earlier no luck. The problem has been resolved with the knowledgeable help from level 2 support. When a x4 trial was uninstalled earlier, not all files or programs got deleted and a a result the new install would not install even from the beginning. The level 2 support ran a "clean-up" program "VS_cleanup(x4).exe. The program installed without a hitch.
If the install instructions on the Corel web site included the added delete instructions and a link to the clean-up program, I should have been able to resolve the problem myself instead of a couple of hours on the phone, o r at least give the instructions to level 1 support. I had the same problem with another suppliers program's install; followed the instructions for a version upgrade with no luck until a level 2 support from that company ran a clean-up file.
