There was a random prediction of June from one of the managers but don't take that as a definite.

1. In PSP's Manage mode, open the Computer tab and select any folder of images.
2. Using Windows Explorer, rename another folder of images (a folder that is currently displayed by PSP).
3. In PSP, select the folder you just renamed (PSP is still showing the old name).

The only way out of this is shutdown PSP in Task Manager.
Same program and same update but on Windows XP. In my case it does not freeze but shows no files can be seen and still has the old name.
I had two folders on the desktop AAAA and ZZZZZZZ . I had AAAA open an Manage and showing images , then minimised X4 and renamed ZZZZZZZ to ZZZZ on the desktop. Brought X4 back up and yes the folder was still ZZZZZZZ and does not appear to be a refresh button. Selected ZZZZZZZ and showed no images. Then selected the original folder and all OK. so closed that branch (Chose Computer rather than Desktop) Then back to open the Desktop branch and filename was refreshed . Still no hang requiring Task Manager.
Problem may be machine specific

Would be nice if they could throw us some small patches along the way a la Microsoft!

Let's use this topic to report bugs & fixes, not tear our hair out about them (though I deeply sympathize with this misery!!!)

PsP X4 needs minutes to start and stays 'Not responding'. It seems to scan all my 3 TB of data before opening. It also freezes other programs of my computer when trying to open.
I am opening in Editor mode. Has anybody heard about some workaround for this awful behavior?

This becomes very obvious when it actually crops the image on that dimension!

I have to uncheck, then re-check "lock aspect ratio" to see the other dimension updated.

P.S. this is NOT a FEATURE...
I filed a ticket on this problem and it took several weeks of back and forth emails for it to be sent higher up. But since they closed my ticket, I won't know if it will ever be fixed. The solution is to just keep the aspect ratio unlocked and set the numbers each time.

My X4 is flagging a new update. Is this the long awaited service pack? has anyone applied this? has it solved any problems?

Service Pack 2 is out. Aside from supporting a few more raw files it doesn't appear to do anything else. There's a vague reference to "program stability" but I suspect that's just hype. No one has come out and said that it fixed anything for them.

SP 2 may have fixed the annoying unwanted switching between tiled and tabbed windows (when crop tool is active). And may have fixed broken resizing with locked aspect ratio. This optimism is based on about five minutes of testing, though, so TBD.

BUG: Crop tool issue

Description: PSP X4 craches while editing pictrures (once per 3-4 pictures) on Edit mode - after opening RAW file (both PEF and DNG) when I try to crop it I cannot choose crop tool (no response when clicking on it) and few seconds later program craches. The same without any service pack, with SP1 and SP2. Very annoying.

They may have fixed that but it still reverts to tabbed documents if you double-click the image header to maximize an image.

So it seems a couple of bugs have been addressed in the latest SP but oh so many are still there. In particular, it still takes an age to fully start up as it appears to be cataloguing all the images on my HD. Also that ridiculous requirement to close all open images before switching to Manage mode is still there.

After waiting all these months I think we deserve much better.

P.S. No comments from LeviFiction for a while??

So I do NOT have a slow start up with PSP X4, but then I start in Edit mode, and never, never, never use manage mode: I do not find it at all valuable...

I also installed SP-2 just now, hoping that it would bring back a VERY handy tool from PSP X-3. I use two monitors, on the right one my PSP working screen, and when I open files or want to save one, the folder appears on the left one, so I can keep seeing the file on the right hand monitor that needs to saved and give it an appropriate name. Alas, in X-4 that tool is no longer available, the folders always appears over my PSP working screen on the right hand side monitor and cover all my pictures.
Also, if you need to paste a selection as a new layer, and you go into the menu "Edit", X-3 had a subtle little grey line underneath the line with "Paste as new layer" so you could almost automatically click it in the right position. Also that tool is not included in SP-2.
I actually didn't see any difference coming with SP-2. Maybe it is just something deep inside.
Corel, will there be a SP-3 with these tools included, please?

Oh, well... :(
