Manage workspace: Thumbnail view works only if you use only one monitor. When in Dual Monitor View mode, the Thumbnail View in the Manage workspace is greyed out and does not work.

Re: PSPx4 Bugs and fixes.
If you have customized all your icons nicely in Edit mode, then go into Manage mode and there change from Preview to Thumbnail view, then go back to Edit mode, all your additional icons are gone.

Re: PSPx4 Bugs and fixes.
For the record: Please note that I have split a number of posts -- originally started by Magshop -- off from this original thread of "Bugs and Fixes". This was because (a) Magshop's problem is not demonstrably a bug; and (b) the point of the Bugs and Fixes thread was to list in a relatively brief thread the various identified bugs and whatever fixes might or might not have emerged to remedy them. Instead we were getting into a rambling discussion more appropriate to a separate thread. The split thread is now titled "Can't get X4 to fully open".

Re: PSPx4 Bugs and fixes.
Ken and other moderators: you may consider locking this thread and only adding to it other threads (or postings from other threads) manually yourselves to discourage just such a problem from occurring. Much like the Free Stuff thread in the General Information forum was.
Bug -> Fix
Bug -> Fix

Same here as Arnout reported. Win764@user account, panel on 2nd screen - no layers can be created anymore.Arnout wrote:Hi all,
...
Not sure if anyone has the same issue, but I can not create new layers in the layer panel anymore.
All options from Layer, Adjustment Layer and Mask Layer (the small buttons at the bottom of the Layers panel) are always greyed out!
I CAN, however, create new layers from the layer menu.
I tried this on 2 machines, one XP and one Vista, both have the same issue since the update.
I do have the layer panel moved to my second screen.
...
Issue appeared with SP1, I downgraded to No-SP1 which works fine again.
Customer support tells me that I am needed to run with Admin rights, they can't do nothing about.
Did anyone get any feedback if they are going to restore Pre-SP1 behaviour? Unless that happens SP1 is useless for me.

@Ameise71
Somewhere between your's and Arnout's message I wrote that I had escalated it. This problem is not related to SP 1, and appears only if we separate the Layer palette. If you fix it, then it works fine.

@Simone Corel UK:
I'm sorry for not reading through the whole topic - it covers several issues. The behaviour is as Arnout stated and affects SP1 only. Without SP1 dual screen works fine on user account (as it should be the case
).
Please keep us posted if you get any feedback from the dev team...
Thanks, Andreas

Re: PSPx4 Bugs and fixes.
EDIT: just realised someone else had reported the layer palette bug. Just to add, it doesn't seem to matter if its on a second screen or not but rather just undocking from the main application window causes it.
Re: PSPx4 Bugs and fixes.
Bug; "Depth of field":
When selecting "area of focus", x4 blurres the edges of rectangular selection. In other words, it is nok possible to select all of the pictures outlining/edges, since there always is a thin line of blur at the edges of the photo.
The blurring follows the selection frame. That is probably not the intention from Corel...

to make images usable in animation shop follow these stepsJoelle wrote:This has not been addressed, despite reporting it to The Team.TinaNZ wrote:
I upgraded to x4 (download purchase) a few days ago and I am loving it EXCEPT I cannot copy frames or frame from Animation Shop and right click in my PSP to paste as a new image as this causes crashing every time. I've read somewhere in this forum how the patch (SP1) fixed this issue. I hate to say it has not for me nor has it for 2 other PSPx4 users in a forum I am with.
Any real chance that this is still on the list for a fix please?
Cheers,Tina.
I would guess that Animation Shop is now so old that they're not very interested.
Of course it shouldn't be like that.
I have other had issues with copying from elsewhere and pasting into X4 causing problems. At the moment it seems to be 'only' Animation Shop that causes a problem.
My workaround: I copy the frame from Animation Shop to Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 7, then copy it from there to X4! No crash.
You could try something similar perhaps, I mean copying to another program first.
It's a pain, but at least X4 doesn't crash

open an image, select file, then save as, when the window pops up, select options, use the arrow to scroll down to psp 7 compatible file. close the image.
you need not actually save it.
animation shop came with psp 9 last i heard, and an updated version was to 3.11, the last version i am aware of.
setting the saving pspimages as psp 7 compatible, allows as to see the file when you are ready to copy/paste to as. it also makes any images usable in earlier versions of psp
regardless, as long as you DO NOT reset the option. re-opening the options pane resets the default to psp x4. once set for psp 7, it will retain that setting for tubes, frames, and all other psp-type image files.
learned this when i had trouble using psp x2 files in earlier versions. they always were considered incompatible.

Re: PSPx4 Bugs and fixes.
i haven;t seen anything about a bug in converting a vector layer to a raster layer. i just installed psp x4 and the update sp1, however, when i did my first project i tried to add text. i do
each line seperately, then convert it to a raster, then the second, etc. at no point was i able to convert any vector layer to a raster layer. i reported this as soon as i discovered it, to corel.
has anyone else come across this problem? it makes it extremely difficult to add different effects to different text layers, which i like to do. i have never, ever, encountered this in any earlier
version of psp. i have been using various versions for over 7 years and still use each them for different projects.
i am not happy with this non-functionality of such a needed tool.

Re: PSPx4 Bugs and fixes.
It's that the layer loses focus and you can't do anything else to it without clicking on it in the layer palette. Corel has redone the layer palette for this version and there have been many complaints about it.snowpapa5513 wrote:i haven;t seen anything about a bug in converting a vector layer to a raster layer. i just installed psp x4 and the update sp1, however, when i did my first project i tried to add text. i do

Yes, I see this too: there is an error message to the effect of : "cannot convert unsupported layer type", but once I click on the layer in the layers paletted which is of course still shown as active by highlighting), I can then convert the vector layer to raster. Very tacky, very tedious!ADonahoo wrote:It's that the layer loses focus and you can't do anything else to it without clicking on it in the layer palette. Re: PSPx4 Bugs and fixes.
My Color Balance window is disfunctional: it opens incomplete (and of course cannot be resized). I can see only the top line with the display Preview check box, which is checked, and I cannot alter/uncheck that, and the bottom green - purple slider, which I can move. But Smart Balance and other settings are missing.

Re: PSPx4 Bugs and fixes.
@SJS
This has been already reported as bug just before SP 1 was published, but the time to fix it with SP 1 was too short.
