Change in workspace is great!
Colored icons - great!
Small icons - great!
Suddenly, X4 is a lot better!

By the way - X4's "Fill light/clarity" is a longe lost friend's appearance. That is why i bought X4!

Bug Report

Post by Arnout »

Dear Ken Berry, or other moderator,

I've been looking for a way to report bugs in PSP X4, but am unable to find any official bug-report feature on the site.
So, I will post it here, in the hopes this bug will somehow be picked up by the developers at Corel.
I've stated this issue before, but now tested in more detail and reproducable.

In PSP X4, when the layers palette is docked, everything is fine.
But if you pull the layers palette loose and place it floating (on a second screen for instance), the buttons on the layers palette to create new layers, are all disabled (greyed out).
Once you re-dock the palette, it works again.

Since I use dual screens for my webdesign work, and all palettes are on my second screen, this is a fairly big issue.
I solved it partly for now by creating a new toolbar with the most needed layer options and placing that under my layer palette on the second screen.

The issue arised since the SP was installed.
This is easy to reproduce, just un-dock the layer palette and see for your self.
I am using windows XP with latest SP. My PSP X4 is version: 14.1.0.5

I'll add screenshots for illustration.

Hope this will be taken seriously. Thanks,

~ Arnout

I don't see that as mine is docked permanently.
You will find that, in the scheme of things, this is seen as a cosmetic 'bug' rather than a malfunction of a tool, so it isn't likely to get high priority.
Just keep it docked permanently and you won't see it. :D

It may be "seen" as a cosmetic bug, but it is definitely a bug. There is no rule that says you have to have your palattes docked to work properly.

I'd hardly think this is a cosmetic bug, since it actually really disables functionally from the application.
It may, by some users, be considered a minor annoyance if they normally have the palette docked, granted that.
But to those (like me) who always have the palettes un-docked at the second screen, this is frustrating as hell.

@Arnout: I'm going to escalate it today. Thanks for reporting. [Update: Just logged]

@OldRadioGuy: I had already forwarded your topaz problem last month. I have had no time to test if SP 1 solved it.

Thanks, Simon.

Since there are some of us with 64-bit systems experiencing this problems, I'm assuming the engineers will continue to look into this. But I'm certainly glad the bug was eliminated for some.

Did you get this latest find also? The histogram adjustment layer does not remember user settings when the the high and low points have been set.

Re: PSPx4 Bugs and fixes. _ Printing in color

Post by bobbert »

This seems like a. bug... If I go to print an file with more than one layer, if an adjustment layer is selected, the print dialogue shows the image in greyscale in the "placement" tab, and the "options" tab has color and CMYK greyed out. If I simply select an IMAGE layer i can print in color.

Seems to me that which layer is selected shouldn't influence the type of print for the whole image.

@bobbert

Open an image- > create a mask layer -> Click on "Mask - Raster 1" and go to File - Print -> Options: only Greyscale is available

Has been logged as bug

Open in image -> create a New Mask Layer -> click on layer "Group - Raster 1" -> go to File - Print and PSPX4 will crash.

No further bug reports required.

BugReport: F2 key (2 seperate issue's)
Description: F2 (hide palettes & toolbars) does not work as expected.

Issue #1:
The F2 key is supposed to Hide\Show your palettes & toolbars, but it will *only* Hide\Show Palettes & toolbars that are floating. The F2 key seems to have no effect on docked palettes & toolbars. (by design ???) To me this is a minor issue since I only have floating palettes, but I thought to mention it none the less. 8)

Issue #2:
When you press the F2 key, your floating palettes & toolbars hide nicely, and they reappear if you press the F2 key again. So far so good. BUT... if you press F2 to hide them, then exit PSPX4, then restart PSPX4 again, you palettes & toolbars are still hidden (as expected), but pressing F2 will *ONLY* re-show the floating Toolbars. NOT the palettes! To show the palettes again, you'll have to get them back manually via the menu, or by pressing each corresponding F-key per palette!

This issue #2 is to me a major annoyance since I very often have to re-Show all my palettes individually now. It seems to me a small issue to fix though, it already re-shows the floating toolbars, but somehow forgets the floating palettes.

I've tested this bug thouroughly. It happens all the time. test machine is Windows XP SP3, 2xwidescreen monitor @ 1440x900, PSPX4 v14.1.0.5

Kind regards,

Arnout
