Flip vertical and horizontal can be found in the Image menu as before. I too mourn the loss of the Mirror option.

What is your "fix"?

Reloading my saved workspace got back my home-made mirror and flip commands. The fix is to open an older version of PSP and record a script using each of the original mirror and flip commands. Save them with a descriptive name (I called my mirror_layer and flip_layer) then bind them to an icon and add them to the image menu. I also added a keyboard shortcut for each one. I actually like the new mirror and flip commands, just wish Corel had added them as additional commands instead of the replacing the commands we have used for years. I can't believe someone in charge thought that was a good idea.

Actually I don't mind the X4 set up the two Flips bring together the same type of action, but one horizontally and one vertically.
It presents a consistency of terms which makes it simpler for anyone new learning the program. Other programs seem to look for more exotic names to do the simple actions we have in PSP so you finish with a plethora of odd names in diferent programs for the same action. Just look at the warp brush for one.
I do note that in PSP8 they had small icons beside the words to show what the action was as well perhaps that could be rejuvenate to make it easier as well.

To get your icons back click View> Customize...
With the Customize window open go back to the workspace and click the Image group (or menu item or whatever you want to call it). When the menu opens right click what you want to have an icon next to and click Image and Text, rather than just Text. Repeat this with the hundred or so functions that you'd like an icon for. Now you're having fun eh

I take this back. It now appears that the catloguing happens if you start up in edit mode with the Collections tab active in the navigation panel. It does not happen if the Computer tab is active. Ho hum! :o

My personal experience is the following: PSPx4 was working fine, until I registered it. Now, it crashes and does not act as normal, can't detect contents of "computer", only "Desktop".
I bought a valid legal copy and have valid S/N.
I will re-install and try to use it for a while, to see if works satisfactory, if not then I will be going back to Photoshop!
What a loss! Corel wake up, if this keeps up your sales will drop to almost nothing!

I think this is a bug I just found. When I apply the Effects > Textures Effects > Tiles (and set angularity high like 75) to an image, it works. When applied to a new raster layer above the image filled with straight color (light gray for example) it only produces hexagons, squares or triangles even though the settings are the same as for the image. If I use a gradient on the layer, it works as it does with an image. This should work the same with straight color.

Its possible that it is designed to look for contrast but it seems odd and should at least have a click on/off box.

Downloaded and installed PSP 4 Trial from the Corel download page. It takes ~20 seconds to complete loading on an I7 machine w/10GB of RAM. X3 is junk!! X2 loads immediately. Guess I'll stick with X2.

BTW, tried to install PSP X4 twice with thew same results.

In PSP X3 I can Repeat an action to multiple layers.

In PSP X4 I can Repeat a selection update (selecting another layer)! I do NOT need to Repeat a selection update! Repeat has become almost useless in X4. I can Repeat the same action multiple times on the same layer, I can Repeat the same action on multiple images. More often I need to Repeat the same action on the same image on multiple layers! If I want to Repeat the same action on multiple images, I use the batch process with a script!

This was fixed in X5, never in X4. I've uninstalled X4, too broken.

Good to know that was fixed.

Some other issue I'm having randomly... When I save an image, sometimes the filename gets a bunch of japanese/chinese kanji symbols added after the original name and before the file type extension. Seems quite strange.

I am using PSPX4 Ultimate , and apart from the docking station not working properly ,
everything was okish , until a few days ago and a update came in .
Then I lost the lot ... I tried a repair , downloaded the file that was sent to me for languages and got it into the right file .

Went back to it the next day to find that all the work I had done the day before was lost .

It seems that Alkami the Net session Interface , had gone wrong and on top of that the Patch was for a Mac computer

I use Internet Explorer 8, and have Windows 7 .

I have Re installed the programme , and have been adding Tubes (what I have left of them ) Gradients Patterns and Masks ,
a lot of them I have made myself , especially the backgrounds for Patterns .

I started using Corel PSP X2 Ultimate , a few years ago , so have a fair bit of stuff that I have made and used myself ,

I am in another forum with someone who has the same programme and the same thing happen to her some time back .

Being disabled etc Blah blah ..... I refuse to upgrade anymore and if needs be will go back to X 2

Has any one else had this happen to them ? and any advice would be extremely welcome

as I at the stage of throwing both programme and computer outta the Window ,
and can now understand why my friend said she nearly had a breakdown over it all . :x :)

By the way Hiya folks :)

If i use 'Unsharp Mask' the sharpening happends in two steps every time i tab the box 'preview on Image' but when i use the preview boxes and i press 'Preview on Image' the effect is instant.
Kind of anoying because it makes it harder to Judge the difference.
It also happends with other effects that use the two preview boxes.

What do you mean by "two steps"? I almost always keep "Preview on image" checked for most effects/tools and I see the result on my image right away.

It's when you see the two boxes and you press "Preview on Image" multiple times to see the difference.
