Can I have two PSP versions installed?

Post by eL_PuSHeR »

Hello.

Although PSP X4 is failing on me due to TIFF file saving issues, I wonder if it possible to have both PSPP X3 and X4 installed at the same time?

If so, I could use X4 for everything except saving TIFFs.

Best regards.

No problems here with both.
Adverts for Corel products when you close PSP don't bother me.

Yes. Tried it and both X3 and X4 can coexist peacefully.

I have Versions 7, 8, 9, 10, 13, & 14 all installed. I have had as many as 3 open at the same time...might could have them all open, dunno, haven't tried it.

I have found out that when having both X3 and X4 installed, X3 workspace custom settings are reverted back to defaults after using X4. Not a great deal though.

Hmm. Maybe it's just a glitch on my PC.

You probably could. I have 8, 9, X, XI, X2, X3, and X4 all installed on this same machine, and I can open all of them (or any combination) at the same time. One small issue you may encounter is that, depending on your Windows 7 color scheme, you may have Windows tell you that PSP 9 and PSP X are incompatible with that color scheme, and then Windows will revert to a "standard" color scheme for all applications; it will switch back once you close PSP 9 and/or PSP X. Obviously, all of those versions of PSP open at the same time will use a lot of memory, so that may limit what you can do, how large your images are that can be edited, etc.

That brings me to a question I was wondering this morning. I have PSPX installed on Windows 7 32-bit with Aero Theme and it runs just fine. Then I have PSPX installed on Windows 7 64-bit with Aero Theme and it gives that "The color scheme has been changed to windows basic" message and I can't figure out why....any ideas?

Maybe you need updated video drivers for that machine. Are they updated?

Are both versions updated to 10.10?
Only 10.10 supports Aero... not entirely sure about 64 bit though.

The 32-bit pc where it works fine, is 3 years old. The 64-bit pc where it doesn't, is 3 weeks old. I wouldn't think I need to update the video drivers on a brand new machine.
Thank you so much Tim, that is exactly what it was....I hadn't installed the last patch. I found the CD it was on and installed it and now it works great. Thanks so much. I know it was not a problem, but it was definitely annoying.

Hmmm, maybe I missed a patch or two from when I installed all my stuff on this computer after my previous one died. My PSP X displays as 10.02. I guess I'll have to do a little updating.
