Corel Guide in PSP X4 Ultimate
Hello,
When I click on Corel Guide icon (top right) it only opens a page describing features of Corel Guide without any actual web-based content.
What I've tried so far:
- Uninstall, re-install
- Applied Service Pack 1
- Changed default browser from IE8 to Mozilla to Opera and back to IE8
- Disabled Firewall and AV in Norton 360
- Spent couple of hours in Chat with Corel they told me to re-install, and if no change to call 2nd tier support.
- It's been about and hour that I am waiting for someone in 2tier support to answer my call.
Definitely not a pleasant first impression.
Help appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. I know how to access Help, that is not the issue. The issue is the Corel Guide, as explained in the original post.Kathy_9 wrote:If you are looking for the Help Files, click on Help -> Help Topics and it will open online help files in your browser.

Re: Corel Guide in PSP X4 Ultimate
Sorry, when you mentioned web based content, I assumed you were looking for the help files. I just compared the Corel Guide in X3 and X4 and they are slightly different, but you truly are not missing much.
X3 has 4 tabs (Home, Learn, Do More, Messages) X4 has 2 tabs (Home, Messages).
The Learn tab in X3 has a small blurb on KPT, Scripts, Digital Work-flow, Organization and Capture & Editing. Some of the blurbs have hyperlinks that lead to the online Help files. There really is no other web based content. The Do More tab is an advertisement for PDF Fusion with a Buy Now Button.
Was there something in particular you were looking for or expecting to find in the Corel Guide?

Either I haven't explained it well, or you are not paying attention.Kathy_9 wrote:Sorry, when you mentioned web based content, I assumed you were looking for the help files. I just compared the Corel Guide in X3 and X4 and they are slightly different, but you truly are not missing much.

When you click on Corel Guide button in X4, the page opens:
Home and Messages tabs are at the top. Home is the page described below, Messages is advertisement, and then there is an icon for Settings, where you can set next to nothing.
The left side of Home page describes the Corel Guide feature by feature:
"Get Help any time with the Corel Guide
Learn (Find Tips, Tutorials...)
Get More (Access new project styles and templates...)
Do More (Access trial software and updates...)
Stay Up to Date (Upgrades...)"
So, all of these should be available as links to downloads or tutorials (web-based content), but they aren't. I have VideoStudio, and there the Corel Guide has all of these functional. For example, when you click Get More, you get web-based content with new styles and templates available for download, etc. In X4 Corel Guide, there are no such links, just a description of what should be there but isn't.
Corel first tier support already agreed that Corel Guide page should look different from the one I have, but all they could recommend was to re-install PSP. I couldn't get to 2nd tier support in more than an hour of waiting on the phone. This is getting pretty silly...

Re: Corel Guide in PSP X4 Ultimate
PSPNewbie, you're getting all that I see. When X3 was new there was less content in the "guide" and as content was created by Corel it was added over time. That's partially why you see the advertisement, that's there to tell you when the next version comes out or something else you can buy. Clicking the Settings icon lets you set things on the Guide itself, not the rest of the program. More content will likely be added when it's created, but if they added content from previous versions it wouldn't be too helpful if it had you click the wrong things. You may find the Learning Center of more helpful.
If you ask a specific question though we may be able to lend a hand. Keep in mind this is a user to user forum. There are a few Corel employees that occasionally comment and help here but they are usually here on their own time of their own accord.

Like Dan and like you apparently, this is all I get when I click on the User Guide. As Dan says, nothing is apparently available yet...

Thanks Ken, now at least I know I am not the only one getting this screen, but I am surprised that no one on this forum raised the issue. You must agree that it is very confusing to include a functionality (Corel Guide) and advertise it, without this functionality actually being available, and without providing any kind of disclaimer of the type "not yet functional". Confusing indeed, since Corel support said nothing about this, and even conceded that there should be some web-based content in Corel Guide.
Re: Corel Guide in PSP X4 Ultimate
Hi Dan, what I see is exactly the page that Ken showed in his reply. I know the Settings are context-specific, but all you can set there is whether or not to automatically receive updates and messages from Corel.df wrote:PSPNewbie, you're getting all that I see. I certainly hope one of Corel employees will comment, because it is a very poor advertisement for their product to include a non-existing functionality without any disclaimer.
