Video Pro X4-AVCHD, Splitting frames on each clip

Post by Davej56 »

Hi Folks,
I have a very unusual problem and I can't work it out. I have 1920x1080 clips in AVCHD format taken from my Full HD Digital movie Camera. It's a cheapy - Kogan! When I place all the clips together in Studio Pro 4 and render the video outpout or even preview in the clip window I get the frames splitting above and below the frame. The clips play fine in all players and as you can see in the second attachment is the Pro preview player compared to Media classic which renders the clip correctly.
Any help on why this is happening would be appreciated.
Regards
Dave
You can see the top and bottom of the frame is duplicated on every transition or start of next clip

Hi Dave

Welcome to the forums.

The video file is using a compression Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder.

I have looked at my system and do not have this codec available in X4, however I did find references to it in the registry, but only the decoder.

Did the camera come with any software and have you installed it?

I also Googled the codec seems Windows 7 is required but not 64 bit compatible, not sure if this an issue????

Video Studio
You show the images from the library, is the problem the same in the timeline, in both Project and Clip playback
If you render/Create a Video file, does the problem still show on the final video, you seem to indicate yes?
If not then it is just related to the preview screen.

Hi Trevor,
Apologies for the delay in replying. I appraciate your help.
The camera only came with a program to upload and manage your pics and video files, no codecs or drivers.
It uses a Mini Sandisk either by connecting via USB or Ican upload via my PCs San Disk slot.

The problem appears in any part of Video studio, during preview and final rendering.
The AVCHD video plays fine in all other programs like WIndows MEdia Player and WIndows Media classic, VLC etc. SO it seems it's a Video studio problem.
Searching the forum shows VS has similar probles with AVCHD in previous versions like fram skipping but I have not found frame splitting?
Any help is welcome.
Should I escalate ths to Corel technical support? My software is legit and paid for.
Cheers
Dave

Sorry, but Trevor is currently travelling and won't be home before Christmas. And yes, I think you should report this to Corel directly since it appears to be a problem we have not encountered here before.
