Hello all those more knowledgeable about DVDs and burning than myself. I am wondering why my supposedly 4+GB DVD can only hold a file that is approximately 400MB? I understand that different methods of encoding video and audio files take up different amount of space, but it seems awfully ridiculous for the difference to be so great. Also my MF3 take about 4 hours to convert the file before actually burning it to disk. That seems awfully long to me, but I wanted to check to make sure it was normal.
I have a wicked fast computer with 2 gigs of RAM and I've downloaded all the product updates so I dont believe it's a hardware problem. Any help that you could offer me would be GREATLY appreciated. Please also feel free to email me your assistance at ChronicFear@yahoo.com.
Thank you very much!

Why Do My WMV Files Become HUGE When Burned to DVD?

MF4 will be converting it to a dvd compliant file (so it will play in a dvd player). It's not how big the wmf is - but how long. A DVD will hold about two hours at reasonable quaility, so if the wmf is a runs for a long time it will fill a dvd once converted.
And yes - it would take a very long time to convert. Why are you using wmf?
If you must use that format, try to have the size at one of the DVD complainat sizes (depends on if you are NTSC or PAL for the sizes).

I think the reference is to the valid resolution (frame sizes) for DVD. Have a look here for some dvd spec info:
