Have become very frustrated, irritated and to be honest, disgusted by what has become a repeat error each and every time I use any adjustment on graphics, photos or anything I am working on with PSP X3. Am including a screen shot, edited down to the forum specifics, and hope someone has an answer for this. Needless to say, I had to edit the screen capture with PSP X2 since to reload PSP X3 will now require my restarting my computer.
I have used Paint Shop Pro since it's very first incarnation as a tiny program courtesy of the folks with Jasc, so this is not my first time using the product, just the absolute worst experience doing so.
No matter what the image, file type, or set-up, when I try to make adjustments (even if I make sure to stop and make double sure they are finished processing), eventually the program locks up and I get the error shown and stated. Windows has no fix for this, and in looking through the forum and knowledge database, neither has anyone else.
If I thought PSP X4 would be better, I might be tempted to fork over the extra money (even though I just bought this version a few months ago!) ... but at my age and monetary level, putting good money after bad makes zero sense.
Hope someone can make some sense of this and offer suggestions. My system info was all entered when I logged into this forum, but if you need it, let me know -- beyond Windows Vista Home Premium, 64 bit. (The rest was entered to log in)
Thank you in advance,
Suzanne

Is this a new install of X3? Have you manually installed all 5 patches? If yes, then no, I'd suggest starting there. http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index. ... pid=800007 Install all Service Packs in order 1-5, you don't even need PSP open to do that and will be asked to close it anyways. I failed to install in order on one computer and it screwed a few things up. SP2 is alleged to include SP1 but I don't trust it myself. At any rate this looks very much like what happened before SP1 was released.

Re: "PSPX3 Has Stopped Working" - error
For some reason my post was "saved as a draft," so posting again. Unsure where our drafts get saved here.
I bought the boxed version from your Corel site this past Summer, so I would "assume" that means 'new install.' My version is showing as "13.2.1.32" and I have always checked for any new updates via the pull down menu (Help > Check For Updates) in the program. Is that sufficient, or should I follow your link? Also, any problem having this and X2 installed on the same system?
Thank you in advance!

Re: "PSPX3 Has Stopped Working" - error
By new install I mean did you just install this program last week or has it been working for you for over a year and it's suddenly not working.
If you installed it recently and didn't get prompted to update the software at least 4 times then the updater may have just grabbed the latest service pack and installed it, skipping previous service packs. As far as I know there's no way of knowing for certain either way how many service packs you've had installed. The only fix for a missed service pack is to uninstall and reinstall the program itself.
Before you reinstall try resetting the workspace. From the shortcut on your desktop hold the shift key and double click the shortcut. If you don't have the desktop shortcut find the actual program, hold the shift key and double click the program. For me it's in C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel PaintShop Photo Pro\X3\PSPClassic and the program is named "Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo". After restarting the program if you still have issues you'll likely need to reinstall. This behavior looks like what was happening to many before the first patch was issued.
Many people have had major problems reinstalling, myself included. I've gone to using a third party uninstaller for all uninstalls, Corel or otherwise. I use http://www.majorgeeks.com/Revo_Uninstaller_d5706.html Once the program is installed start Revo Uninstaller. You will see a list of installed software on your computer. Choose the program you want to uninstall (PSP X3 at this point) and click Uninstall. Choose the most advanced option and follow the prompts. It first creates a recovery point, then uses the Windows uninstaller (which can take a while for X3), then it cleans up all the stuff that Corel fails to uninstall. Corel's uninstaller is lacking by far, so I see this as being necessary. Read the prompts after the Windows/Corel uninstaller carefully.
Reinstall the software. Don't start the software. Download and install the service packs 1-5 and install them in order. http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index. ... pid=800007 Restart the computer if prompted between service packs. If the last service pack doesn't prompt you, restart anyways. Start the software and see if your issues are still present. You can download the service packs before you begin so you know you have all of them.
