Video Studio X4 Stop Playing MPEG-1 (MPA) Files
I've search the web to see what could have caused this issue. Anytime I try to play Video Studio's MPA files the program locks up. This is also true for Windows Media Player 12 (I am using Windows 7). Other players like Real Player have no issue. I am assuming that VS and WMP are sharing the same codec. Reload DirectX, but that change anything. Don't know if I have corrupt codec for mpeg-1, an issue with the Windows 7 registry, or something completely different. This does not effect MP3 file types, only MPA. Any help will be appreciated.

It appears that this is a codec issue.

Already tried those sites. It didn't help. Microsoft support recommend that I uninstall the "extra" codec drivers and any third party players. I've done that as well. I did a clean boot. Ran a system scan for corrupt files (SFC). So far nothing has worked.

Re: Video Studio X4 Stop Playing MPEG-1 (MPA) Files
Here I am all this time later answering my own question. Went to another software package for a while. But know I've solved it. This is an issue with my Windows 7 64 bit and Arcsoft. Windows Media Player (32), it has two version, would also not play the sound files. Turns out all MPEG-1 were not working. Ran windows media player > help> technical support and got a list of codecs. In the MPEG's was Arcsoft. Turns out this is not compatible. Some people mention about tweaking Arcsoft, but I didn't need and wanted it gone. I uninstalled all Arcsoft software, but the stupid thing was still in my codec list. Had to use regedit and passively remove it. (check web on how) I could have possibly just deleted the folder Program Files (x86)\common files\arcsoft, but was concerned my registry might not take to kindly. So, I edit my registry not to need the file any more. Well it all works now.
